Turns out after putting the new OME suspension in that the POs "custom" shackle lift used a driveshaft that's about 1" longer than stock. Flange to Flange i'm 21" (at loaded ride height) and the shaft is 21.25" fully compressed. Thanks to @roadstr6 for helping confirm that I'm about 0.75 - 1 ' over stock! It's clear that it was lengthened at some point after looking at a stock unit.

So I'm in need of a recommended Driveshaft Shop in charlotte to trim mine up a little. Does anyone have any recommendations? Google turned up Universal Service (near 85/77) and he had some decent but old write ups on other sites.

I have used Universal a few times before. As long as you give them the exact measurement, you will be good to go.

Thanks all, trying to keep this local and get by with just a trim of the existing. Called universal and they said $90 to trim 0.75" off and rebalance, seems like a consistent price with what others have found. Going to try this, if it doesn't work out I'll get a new unit made by either Carolina or Olivers.

I'm not a fan of Oliver's.

Is this the feont or rear ds?

I may have a 72 rear.

Tried Oliver's earlier this year. I needed two drive shafts made to fit the 40 after the H55 install. His price was $900+ and two weeks. Called Tom Woods Custom Driveshafts, gave them the measurements and a credit card, was promised a next day shipping and when they arrived they were perfect. Less than $600 shipped if I remember correctly.

Closing the loop for posterity sake...took it to Universal after the holidays, he turned it back to me in 4 days over the New Year weekend. Balanced, painted, clean welds and back in stock length. I think @Cirbo had it right, if you walk in knowing what you need it's a decent option.

Biggest thing with driveshaft and shops is knowing exactly what length you need before going in and knowing how to measure for each type of application.
