Well holy crap, forgive my rudimentary testing skills but I enlisted the help of my lawnmower battery per the service manual and I applied a direct 12 V to one and four at the motor plug and reversed polarity and she won’t move!!!

Maybe it’s a motor after all,
I hear the same relay type click coming from the motor as well.

To roll the window up/own manually you have two overcome the resistance of the electric motor, plus the friction of the gears. You won't get enough leverage with it in the door to do that.

Spend the $50 and buy the switch. When that doesn't fix it buy the wire harness. Done.

You've wasted $150 worth of labor on this so far. So right now you're in the hole. And you can't drive it. You can, as long as the window is up and you just leave it up.
As long as the door handle works you're fine.

Is your lawnmower battery 12v though? Most are only 6v.

It’s a 12V battery. Thing is the same click I heard before I hear agaian and it won’t budge.

And that little manual gear slot or whatever doesn’t move AT ALL!

I can’t get it to lower to remove the glass, argh!

Our switches are slightly different, I only have drivers AUTO down. Does that matter?

So turns out the metal thing that I thought you could turn to maybe manually roll the window down, that’s not what it is it’s just a solid metal piece to hold the spring and just happens to poke through the door through that plastic grommet, turns out if you unbolt the six bolts and slowly release the regulator you can drop it down enough to hold it with one hand and remove the two bolts that are holding the window glass, so now the glass is out and I’m gonna see if I can get this motor to free up!

This gear is not moving at all,
I removed the cover to the windings and they are free to spin.

Taking a break for now, probably won’t work on it anymore till next weekend because it’s time to cut the grass!

Dude keep us posted. I don't know what I hope it is now. Whatever is cheaper thats for sure.
Also, Amazon has all the switches for all the years. So if you need a new master switch look there.

OK guys, you won’t believe this! So I cut the grass I’m thinking in my head exactly what does the factory manual say, if you put 12V to the two terminals on the motor and it does not turn, and then you reverse the polarity doesn’t go the other way the motor is bad.

So when I get done cutting the grass, I’m looking at it and I thought “you know what, let’s beat it really hard against one of the wooden posts in the shed and just see if I can free it up or something” because it won’t turn it just locks no matter which polarity give it,

Tested again With the trustee lawnmower battery andshe turns fine so she’s back in the Land Cruiser, regulators in, windows in and working like normal, well sort of...

Except now when it rolls up and stops and rolls a couple inches down so I need to look into what I did because I may have got it out of time or something when I put it in. Or there’s a programming sequence that I haven’t gotten to yet to program the auto up and down.

Now the question is do I take the time to re-tape the whole harness segments that I untaped, I think what I wanna do is tape it up for the most part get it back in the door get the door panel on and just drive it and see if it fails again anytime soon,

I’m kind of beside myself right now, if I would’ve read more of the FSM I could’ve just unplugED the motor and applied 12V and realized I have the motor is not turning. I knew something was fishy because I could hear the relay click in the motor.

Anyways, I hope all you guys had about as much fun as I did today on Labor Day!

PS: another lesson learned, I can’t believe I don’t have an automotive circuit tester, I’ve always been able to do stuff with my RadioShack multimeter, but a really good automotive circuit tester with really long lead that I could’ve attached to a known good ground would’ve come in really handy.

And I need a better set of “smaller” attachments for my current DMM. I made it work but it could’ve been easier with the right tools!

Agreed. Mine has a lot of miles, so it may be a basket case. Still, its worth a shot. Looks like the master switch module runs around $300 and all but the drivers side switch are working fine.
I’ve got a wiring issue myself. I’ve done self repair and cleaning on my master switch but for _hits and giggles I found a new master switch for around $17. Well I wasn’t not out much if I was a piece of crap but I put it through the wringer and shore nuff it works just fine. Now I have a test backup

So I had to remove the regulator again!

Not that bad now that the window works!

Remove the motor from the regulator and run the “Up” drivers switch and be sure the motor gear turns at least 6 revolutions.(4-seconds) I did 10 revs for good measure.

Back together and pinch protection are good to go. Window stops and stays up.

Got the wiring harness taped back up with new tape, routed accordingly. Test everything before putting door panel back on and we are golden!

Greenbean you are the man. Thank you. Got my drivers door window motor going again. I banged on the door with a rubber mallet right on the motor area. Took quite a few hits but it finally freed up the motor and it is working now. Is yours still running strong or did you eventually have to change out the drivers window motor?

Awesome, glad it worked for you!

Still going!

I just be sure the tracks are clean and lubed for the window glass.
