When I originally got my truck (at 70k miles) the drivers side seat was pretty well worn. 5+ years later (125k) it’s gotten worse, and now has a tear. Curious what options might work best for this area. I don’t love the idea of seat covers and airbags, and it sounds like the good ones are big $$$. Not looking to spend big $ on this, I’m not super concerned with appearances, I just want the rip not to get worse. I live in Phoenix so summer it gets well over 120 degrees in the parked car, so not sure if the cheap leather patches in amazon would hold up to the heat or just melt glue. Any ideas?

You shouldn't be able to find replacement leather covers to remove the old ones and put back on there..
I know they have those for the Excursion that I have ..my seats were in the same condition

I got a quote for replacing the leather seat in my 80 series and it was ridiculous..... it's much more economical to replace the cover yourself or seat covers

What I've done on other cars is find a good interior/leather shop and have them recondition/dye the leather and replace the panels that needed it. Turned out great. Made the drivers seat on my 99 GS400 look good as new. Cheaper than replacement leather from Lexus.

You can get a new OEM leather piece and foam piece, and replace it yourself. It is pretty easy.

With some patience you might find a whole seat in good condition on e-bay, use the pieces you need and sell the rest, or sell your seat and use the one you buy.

You could also find a used seat through a junk yard. The good ones have a national network to find parts, or they used to. There might be a scrap yard somewhere that specializes in LCs. There are bound to be a few LCs in scrap yards around Phoenix. Some have their inventories on line, like U Pull & Pay

There are companies that specialize in making oem replacement leather. For example, Richmond Upholstery in Houston and many others.

Maybe someone here can reccomend an aftermarket shop. I'm not recommending Richmond, just using them as an example. There are places like it that specialize in particular manufacturers. Eg, xyz, inc. does mercedes...

You could find a local upholstery shop to replace the foam and just the cracked leather panel.

You could buy the oem foam, put it in yourself and take/ship just the cover to a repair shop and when it is ready, put it in yourself.

There has to be some great upholstery places in Phoenix. There are also plenty of crappy ones. Get a referral from someone you trust. The local LC club maybe, or a hot rod/resto shop, a boat/RV dealer, high end furniture shop... They'd all know who to use and who not to use. Try the 100 forum on Mud too.

Depends on your budget, resourcefulness and sense of urgency.

You can slap on some of that clear vinyl repair tape to keep it from getting worse. Just search Amazon for waterproof and flexible vinyl repair tape. I put some on my boat seat that was tearing and it held up to heat and water. Another cheap option that holds up well is Gorilla clear repair tape.

Lx570 has leather replacement seat bottoms on both amazon and eBay (same vendor). I don’t remember if the had TLC, wasn’t specifically looking. That seat looks a lot like the lx seat, but no leg bolster so the front plastic under the seat is different.

Those look great! You may still need the foam to bring the seats back...
My thoughts exactly. I figured if you were to replace both fronts, you could just add some foam to match the better looking seats' (passenger most likely) internal structure.

I like this price but tan may not match the Lexus parchment color. I would buy this.

I’ve been eyeing those and believe they are parchment. Am waiting for my tear to get a bit bigger. Then I’m going to try to glue it. Then when that fails I’ll move on to replacement.

If that's the case then I'm buying it as well the seat cushion. Utube has a couple examples of installs and it almost looks like fun.

That seat cover company is sending me a sample. I'll toss up pics when I get it. I'm hoping they have the top leather piece for the seat as well.

Cool. Hope the color is close. Post pics.

will do. My truck is no show car, so hopefully just a solid notch above duct tape is mainly what im looking for. I did find a replacement seat on eBay, but $375 shipping kills it and the condition doesn't look great. Gonna also check out a couple of local upholstery places and get quotes, new foam would be nice as my seat aint nearly as comfy as the passenger seat. Also my armrest and that area is pretty shot in the padding department. Thanks for the tip, i'll post pics

This is the one that I used when I replaced my drivers seat bottom on my 2008 LX570. The original one they sent didn't match up correctly how it was assembled in the front to account for the extending front portion of the seat cushion. That being said, I made it work and has been fine, mostly perfect match on color and everything.

I sent the original back to them and they sent a correctly assembled bottom back but I ended up leaving the first one they sent on the seat for now. Probably been right at a year plus now I think.
