I have posted this on pirate and a discovery forum without much help, so i figure I'll post here since my truck is now part toyota and you guys are always helpful?

I just swapped FZJ80 axles onto my LR Disco2, there is a thread in the 80 forum if anyone is interested. But now I have a driveline vibe coming from the rear driveshaft. I know its the rear because the front is out right now.

The FZJ80 axle has a 1" offset compared to the LR axle. It is also low pinion vs, high pinion. I never had vibes before, and now have one from 65-80mph or so.

I am running a HD aftermarket shaft from 6-states, and its got a CV at the t-case and 1310 u-joints. Since the swap we put on a new u-joint flange at the pinion end. It has not been balanced since, and think that might be causing a problem, but am not sure if a new round flange vs, the old square flange could cause a vibe like this.

Some info:

Shaft Length: 35"
Shaft Operating Angle: 15*
Pinion Angle: 15*
T-case Output Angle: 5* downwards
Horizontal Angle: about 4* calculated

Should I be vibing with a CV shaft? Any suggestions appreciated

Have you checked for proper phasing?
that means when you look down the length of the shaft the u-joints line up with each other, this can be "adjusted" where the splines come togetherif they are off by one spline they can cause vibration
good luck ...

just as previuosly stated.... balnce and phase are the leading causes of high speed vibration. As long as all joint are good.:grinpimp:
