A new guy question - My 62 came with a quick disconnect rear drive shaft - REMCO Drive Shaft Coupling- installed making it easy to disconnect the drive shaft for towing. (Apparently my cruiser spent a lot of its life behind a motorhome.) Today I decided to install the stock drive shaft and have a vibration over 50mph. The balance weight is intact and everything else looks good. From other posts I found it appears I should rotate the shaft to eliminate the vibration. Is that right in your experiences or is there another way to determine its correct position? Thanks.

the driveshaft has to be in phase...if it isn't it will vibrate..

How do i determine if its in phase? trial and error?

take it to a drive shaft shop and have it balanced. New U joints are a good idea at that point as well.

To be in phase, the ujoint yokes on the ends should line up. If they dont, pull it apart at the slip joint and line them up.

Thanks 60wag, I get it.
