Hood vents might help but ceramic coating your exhaust manifold will definitely help. Let us know your findings.

What do you think about the effect of these vents (if any) when crossing rivers? Would this vents eliminated the air "bubble" created under the hood while moving forward and flood the engine compartment?

Venting the Hood,

What would the advantages be in venting the hood? Cooler temps on the motor? Better Mileage?
Longer Engine Life? Maybe all of these. Anybody have stats to prove? I have been wondering for years why mfg don't put scoops on to cool the engine.

Y'know, us 40 owners don't have to worry about petty things like louvers, because they were already done for us! :flipoff2: From an engineering standpoint, the most efficient place to put them would be directly above, and just to the side of the engine, closer to the rear of the hood. The row pattern and number of louvers are your choice for cosmetics, but a couple patterns 8-12 inches should be sufficient. And yes, we are a little freaked out by the "skirts and bonnets" that you keep talking about! :D

Have any of you considered exhaust rap its a heat tolerant tape that insulates exhausts including headers and is supposed to reduce engine bay temperatures.

header tape has been discussed here before and found wanting but I can't find the thread. I believe the problem is accelerated deterioration of the header pipes from trapped moisture. Ceramic headers have also been discussed and I think it depends on the motor.
