So my Moms went to get her old baby Smog Pre-Tested even after I told her not too because I have a buddy that would pass Smog for me as a test.
:)

Welp, she pre-tested it in a panic ( old woman ) and FAILED, EGR flow failure and PCV & Hoses needed changing ( after tester broke it ) Arse-bite. Good news she was running pretty clean. So he wanted to remove intake manifold and see if cleaning out the ports would allow proper flow. I was like WTD? Why not just a TB service and clean the ports in situation ( remove vacuum hoses and ream them out ).

So I picked the car up and and started working on it. YEAP, TB was complete dirty, full of 150K miles of delightful carbon build up and some ports were clogged with carbon ( PCV side ). Replaced what wrench broke with a new Toyota PCV, and Hoses ( Breather too )

Finishing up READINESS DRIVE CYCLE, no more pending code P0401, All GREEN, Just waiting for Cat to do it's cycle. 100+ miles to go.

Bonus, she idles real smooth now, good throttle response and quieter to boot, WTD?

Sounds pretty simple. Causes me to reevaluate having my EGR deleted.

I bought the kit and was planning to do the MOD but if I can't get Cat to play then I may have to by-pass it.

I will post after passing or fail :-(

BTW, you must clean the sensor at the intake to give it a chance to monitor cleanly.

Cali Smog PASSED :)

Cat Monitor is a freakin Nightmare. Two ways, 45MPH at 3 Minutes then 40MPH for 7 Mintues or 55MPH for 10 Minutes. Freeway people hate my arse.

I got an EGR mod kit if anyone wants it cheap :)
