This Head Unit was just released about 1.5 weeks ago. I have been awaiting the release because I like the newer features and the VOLUME KNOB!!!! Without steering wheel controls on my 01' it makes it far more difficult to take your eyes off the road to search for tiny little volume buttons. Or at least for me that is.
Pro's:
Bluetooth is the best I have used and heard in any vehicle.
Pandora
aha internet radio
the HU is basically an iPod with all of the scrolling features.
Being able to read the full title, artist and album of every song
Back up camera
Being able to see behind me via rear camera as I drive down the road
3D Nav
Having about 10 colors for your illumination to choose from. The green didn't match but you have a customization option to blend the colors to match your dash perfectly.
You can stream Pandora and ipod music
Detachable face(haven't tried to figure this out yet)
The layout is great
Made speakers sound 5x's better
VOLUME KNOB!!!!!!

Cons:
Only two that I can think of, and that is there can be some glare on the screen during the day making it hard to see the display. I had the front windows tinted today so we will see if that helps.
The display does not tilt.

Nice...next thing should be a lift and bigger (A/T) tires....

I am waiting on my speakers to come in. After I install the amp and speakers then I will consider A/T tires and sliders. I have been shopping them though so when the time comes I will know what I want and pull the trigger. Right now I am leaning towards the Slee step sliders and it is between 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers or BFG A/T's.

Radio, GPS and backup video. It got it all but what's it's gear ratio????;)

Never had any Nitto tires but had numerous sets of BFG's. The BFG all terrains are awsome. I had a set of 31 10.50's on my Pathfinder. For moderate trail riding there great and ride good on the street to. I bought them new and got almost 70k miles out of them. As for the stereo, looks sharp. At one time I was really into car electronics and have done more installs than I can count. If you doing it yourself dont skimp on the wiring. It really does make a world of difference. Also If your doing more that about a 50 watt amp I would run your power down one side and the rca and speaker leads down the other. I know it takes more time but if you run them all together you will probably get an altenator whine comming through your speakers. You also want to make the ground as short as possible to reduce the risk of picking up noise. If your mounting the amp under a seat make sure to use spacers so the amp doesnt rest directly on the carpet. That will keep it alot cooler and make it last longer. If you already knew all of these tech's I apologise but just thought I would throw it out there. It just suxs to spend a ton of time and money and not be happy with the sound. On my last system I used Boston Acoustic pro series mids and tweeters and pioneer subs. For power I used an Alpine 4 way amp (100watts a channel) for the front and rear speakers and an Kenwood 921 bridged to one channel for the subs. I also used an Alpine 11 band equalizer with a sub woofer output and seperate volume control for the sub so I could adjust it for the type of music I was listening to. Dont be fooled, subs arent just for the hood rats. A good sub can make any type of music sound good if tuned right.

Not trying to be a buzz kill but just letting you know. It is illegal to have a tv screen forward of the driver so be careful with having movies play while driving. $237.00 fine

I didn't see him mention anything about video. I thought these DVD head units turn the video off when you put it in drive. I have heard of some people hacking that to allow it to play while driving, but I don't believe he mentioned anything like that. Maybe I missed something.

Nice unit, what is the model # because I would love to upgrade HU in the Taco. I just haven't found anything worth spending the coin on yet. This one just might do it.

Thanks Scott.
No way in hell would I do that while driving.

On the car audio front I use to have some really car audio in some past cars. The last car with aftermarket audio I had 2 sets of MB Quartz components in the front being powered by 700watts by a clean powered Eclipse amp, 3 Fosgate 10" subs pushed by about 1500 watts. Of course I had the best wires, Eq and so on. I competed that system. It was very very loud but was a SQ system.

This stereo is going to be nothing but a SQ system. I may use one 8" JL 8w7 or one 10". I am not a bass head but like you I believe the right sub can make the stereo sound fantastic as far as sound quality goes.
I am usin the best wires for this. I didn't know about running the cable separately. I am having an installer do the work and he competes in sound Quality events too. He and I have developed a friendship and he is going all out to ensure the install is way above par. I will be dynamattinggje crap out of the doors.
For he front components I will be running Hertz MLK Mille's. That is there highest grade speaker. I will be running only a front stage but may add the high end coaxials later if I feel the kids want more tunes.
I will be using ARC audio amp for the Mille's bridged. Tha will give them about 350 watts of power per side.
These speakers with that power will make for the most beautiful sound in the world.
If you were into car audio you may have beard of Robert Zeff. He is an Einstein when building subs. No one has ingenuity and brilliance when it comes to it. He designed the ARC Audio amps and they are so freKing clean and strong.

It's the Pioneer Acic-x930BT.
Scott needs to get from behind that desk. We can't get away with anything as long as he is around.

I know, I think all the crack heads in the south end of town are celebrating in the streets while I'm out. I wasn't saying you would ride around watching movies, I was thinking more along the lines of your passengers wanting to watch while you were driving. Just passing along information. I dont know about you but I think a $237 ticket would suck, especially if I had a fellow club member that could have given me a heads up and saved me the trouble.

Oh I agree and I appreciate the 411.

I know it's all too new school for you.

This is soooooo true, nice to look at and too nice to trash, even if it is capable. Just wishing I had to guts to drive one. I guess!! Doc:cheers:

I know Doc. I'm scared to get this thing dirty.
It's my everyday car and I do a lot of driving between both restaurants so I wanted to make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Trail riding or off roading will be a rare occasion.
I'll take it bird hunting, fishing and camping but being able to go with the club will be tough. I can't seem to ever get away for more than a day and if I do it is for about for four days withthe family for a vacation.
I would one day like to get a 62 for a trail rig or once the newness wears off this I'll start to build it.

Nice, you got me wanting one now. I just re-read and see where you were driving down the road with the BU camera on. Now I see what Scott was talking about.;)

What is the major difference between this and the F700 since I know you have probably researched this. I would guess Nav. and bluetooth quality have increased a good bit, plus I guess this model has DVD playback.

There are a lot of differences. To me the Bluetooth is a huge improvement over the previous models. People can actually hear me and I can hear them instead of everyone sounding like they are in a trash can. I can't speak much about the maps or if they are improved. I used my GPS for the first time today and was really impressed with it.
The F700 has the SD drive in the from and mine uses the micro SD, which has a minimal look. Also, mine has the USB cable in the rear of the unit instead of the F700 where you have to use a Aux cable. A lot of people have complained about having wires coming from the front of the unit.
For me, on the F700 the larger knob is a plus but a huge negative at the same time because it makes your screen smaller.
The x930BT is fast and has several new and neat features like Pandora, the ability to stream and so on. It looks real clean. I LOVE the display. Being able to read the artist, song and album without half of it showing or scrolling looks nice. The interface is like an iPod too. You can put your finger on the screen and flick your finger on it to scroll like an ipod.

I keep thinking of more things I like Jeremy so I amy post a few more thoughts.
Another thing I really liked id the illumination. its a small thing but a big thing. Why? because almost all HU colors do not match the rest of the cars dash. Well the 930 has about 10 standard colors. This bothered me because neither of the 2 greens matched my 100's dash green buttons or dials. It really stuck out like a sore thumb until I figured out that the unit will let you blend colors to match your cars dash perfectly. This unit has a bunch of neat features along with it's many powerful audio and user features. Navigating can be tricky throughout he unit at first but I caught on quick. your a smart guy so it won't be an issue.
Being familiar with the Taco's I think the 930 will look far better than the F series. The 920 is nice too but I think they improved the Bluetooth on the 930. The 930 would look awesome in your Taco. It's only $130 more than the F700 too.
