Are you supposed to take the old weatherstripping off? Got my upgraded stuff in and it's fantastic; just can't hardly close the door now

So my understanding from reading these many weatherstripping and window channel threads is that Kevin is the best to order from for the actual weatherstripping around the door. For the window channel, who is the best to order from b/c I've seen both replies of CDan and JC Whitney. Also, for the horizontal inside/outside felt, who is the best for that? thanks

As I mentioned below, the stock weatherstrip and Wagongear weatherstrip seal at different places with the door shut and can be used together. If you can find some window channel from JC Whitney that actually works, let us know, but the best stuff is the Toyota stuff, and CDan is a good place to get it.

Where does it say to put it over the top? I took the old off and put the new stuff on. It's meant as a replacement, correct?

Stock weatherstrip goes around the door. Kevin's replaces the welting that covers the seam around the door opening. The two won't touch each other when both are installed. I installed Kevin's and new from Toyota both. This gives you an inner and outer weatherstrip like most new cars have.

Anyone else try the Mcmaster carr stuff? Kevin you said it did not seem to grip as well? Would you be able to post the measurements for what is needed? Or PM me the details so I can try it. Thanks!
I was thinking about the type 2. McMaster-Carr

Yeah, I've tried different versions of the Mcmaster trims for this and other projects, it just doesn't seem to be as well made, but it's super nice to be able to get the short lengths. When I'm doing projects that only need a few feet of special stuff I get it from them. (I get lots of things from them, great company).

I just got back in this evening from a month on the road so there is a bunch of stuff to get caught up on, I don't have the measurements in front of me but I'll snag them.
I know the doors need a 3/16" grip trim but I don't remember the bulb size off the top of my head. The other thing is that I can spec the weight of the bulb as well and get pretty thick walled stuff.
If you are in a hurry I know that I posted the specs early on in this thread.
Will post back with the rest of the details though.

Can we still get this door weatherstripping? I'm very interested on all 4 doors of my 62.
Thanks, Jeremy

Kind of, I try to keep in on hand, but I'm out right now and I don't have enough cash to get more yet. :p
I could probably swing a roll of the door seals since there are enough folks looking for that, but the hatch seals are a little tougher, the rolls needed for that last a lot longer, can't get the investment back as quick.

I'm hoping that I will be able to get more in this month or Feb, but I've been saying that for about 3 months now....

Well I'm definitely down for some new door seals. Shoot me a price and let's see if we can't put something together. Thanks again.

Damn, where is all this weatherstrip interest coming from all the sudden? :p

How many of you folks (who haven't sent me an email) are looking for the hatch seals?
That is the hard one, the roll goes a lot further and I need three types of material.

There is more than enough interest for the door seals the issue is simply that I need enough money to carry the expense for one month since the order, the recutting, packing and shipping out takes that long at least.
The account has been low ever since the move but I am working it back up there.

Washed car and it left a puddle of water on the floorboard. I'm pretty sure it's the weather stripping and the inner felt window channel. May as well do the whole thing.

I'd be interested in the rear hatch as well.

Let me know what kind of money you need up front. Thanks.

I want to put my name down for the weather stripping as well. All 4 doors and rear hatch :)
