I'm reaplacing my front speakers right now..took the 4 screws offf...the clips..now about to slide door panel off but it seems the top corner of door panel is under BLACK plastic fitting than covesrs the mechanism for the side view mirrors. Does this just pop offf..I tried pryingi it off wiith a flat screw driver but got some resistance. Don't want to put too much pressure and break it. How do you get it off? Any ideas?

Thanks.

ps. I did a search but no one mention that piece of plastic in their description.

Yea it just pops off - kind of, the center of the piece has a knob kind of thing that clips into a hole. with a flat plade screw driver and some coaxing they come off or brake that little knob off. Try wiggleing it as you apply slight pressure from the screwdriver. They seem to brake easier with age, but once they have been off they come back off next time easier. Good luck!!

Speakers in...door panels up...dammm ..these Eclipse sound good.....didnt have to make spacers...did what someone said and flip the Eclipse gril support inside out..... :bounce:

5.25" or 6.5" ?? I am about to do this and wondering whether there is enough bass in a 5.25" since I don't plan on replacing the subwoofer.

Honestly with more than a 5.25 you should be fabbing a mold for the mount. you will Get more Bass especilly low end, but as I am learning it takes lots of work, hopefully worth the effort.... I went 6 3/4 might as well if you are putting in the time.

As you can ell by my post timing with the Eclipse once the panels are off, it takes a few mins to screw the speaker in. Especially if your're using the Eclipse grill mount as spacer. The sound is good but for true bass you still need a sub...I think. Nice looking thing is that the original grill is reused so it looks like you never had your speakers changed.

definitely still need a sub

I thought a 6.5" would fit if you got something shallow? I was looking at infinity reference coaxial shallow mounts (6002si) which are 1 7/8" deep. Aren't the current speakers 6.5"?
