The new dog is arriving next week and I’m looking for input on protecting the door panels from paws. The previous vehicles got chewed up pretty good so I’m not going bareback anymore. It’s worse with a new dog because the window is only half down until dog can be trusted/trained to not jump out and their paws slip off and rip the paper thin vinyl covering.
Ideas?

Search on your favorite website (Amazon works for me) using "vehicle door protector".

We have 2 very active dogs, they get pretty crazy when they are in the back of the car and I drive past another dog. Here's how I protect the back seat of the Cruiser.

* Get this car seat cover: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4OQQSJ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Fits the 2nd row very well. Throw away the restraint leashes, they are worthless. The dogs step on the seat belt buckles and release themselves in minutes.

They have tabs that slip down between the glass and the inner door panel, very secure, and fit the Cruiser doors well. Takes seconds to install and remove.

Actually I made a pair, since I have a nice crimping tool. The fixed end attaches to the LATCH points in the seats (all vehicles have them now for car seats), very secure. I made them just long enough so they can move around, but they don't get tangled, about 2' long is fine for our smaller dogs.

With the restraint on, the dogs are much calmer, they can't jump out the window, and they can't claw into the front seat if you step out of the truck.

Oh yeah, make sure you engage the window lock button on the driver's door, so the dog can't put the window down by standing on the armrest of the door and stepping on the button.

Here's what the door protectors look like when installed in my '15 LC:

You worries about the interior or exterior (paint) of the vehicle?

Nope, just the sill. These reviews are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, I ordered them today.

Thanks for the reviews. These are working out perfectly and I got exactly what I wanted.

Excellent, good to hear.

Does your dog scratch the paint on the door? Thts the worst part when we have our Lab ride in the truck.
