Hey. Im new to this list and this list ROCKS compared to others I part of. OK, enough flattery. Ive searched the archives and I havent found any thread describing my problem. Problem is this: When I hit the power door lock button on the driver or passenger side all the door locks sometimes unlock. I hit the door lock button again all locks lock. This happens half the time. It always unlocks all doors the first time no prob, it just doesnt always lock the doors first time. This is an annoying problem that has persisted since Ive had the truck. Ideas? I'd appreciate any feedback. Also, how do I get post my avatar? Happy thanksgiving (for you Canadians out there). :)

BTW, Ive got a '95 80 series factory locked, 12000 lbs worm gear winch, custom front/rear bumper and sliders, firestone compressor, bosch ralleys etc.

The contacts in the switch may be getting a little grungy. I've cleaned and regreased mine and they work much better. Be careful taking the individual switches apart as they're plastic and have some tiny springs.

IIRC, it will lock/unlock if you try to lock the doors before taking the key out to keep you from locking your keys in the car.

Canadian's have a Thanksgiving? WTF are you thankful for? Beautiful Country? Wheeling? Snow? Women? Beer? Ok, I can see why you're thankful. :D

Now for the real question. When you hit the switch does it just do nothing? If so then definetly dirty switch contacts or something like that. If it locks then quickly unlocks, see MoJ's response about removing the key from the ignition. This also can happen easily with the remote lock/unlock key dohickie. I've found if you hit the remote button on your clicker, it will chirp once (atleast that's how mine is setup), but it doesn't always lock. Others have had that problem too, what I figured out is if you wait a few seconds after closing the last door, then click it, it works fine, but if you do it to quick, it chirps but no lock....odd...so hopefully you don't run into that problem either...in any case you might want to check the door to see if it really locked, or listen for the actual locks making noise.

Edit: Nice looking Cruiser BTW. Firestone compressor? Is that just a 12v compressor, or something different? I like the bumpers, now beat them up, rip off the mudflaps and dent in the door.. :D

I wish I had the wireless door locker thingy but I don't. Need to look into getting one. My keys are out of the ignition when this happens. The door locks DO NOT lock and then unlock (like what you are describing what would happen if the keys were in the ignition). When I open the door to get out, the lock is already unlocked obviously. When I hit the power lock switch all the doors unlock (which they already are). Then I hit the lock switch again and all doors lock. It always locks all doors the second time I hit the switch. Its weird and kinda frustrating.

The compressor is a 12v 1 cfm @0 PSI machine. I have a 3 gallon air tank plumbed to it (between the driver frame rail and the trans) and when its full I can simultaneously fill 2 265/75s from 8 psi to 35 in 2 mins. Its good enuf for me. Plus I get to have air horns.

I off to Winthrop this weekend. I'll check back Monday to see if any of you guys have any ideas about whats going on the this cruiser.

Cheers.

If your really interested in posting an avatar look in the chit chat section. I think there is a thread there on avatar posting level which covers the topic adequately. :D :D :D Oh and by the way welcome :flipoff2:

If you have the security system installed but no fob that might be the problem. The system tries to keep track of the state of the locks but does a poor job of it at times and gets confused. Look under the DS seat and see if a black box is there. If so unplug the darn thing and see if you situation gets better. My guess is that it will, unplugging it will have no effect on the trucks operation and you should be fine.

I dont have that box under my seat. I do, however, have it behind the panel on the 3rd row seating (drivers side). I'll unplugg it and see what happens. thanks
