Does anyone know how many amps it takes to throw a door lock solenoid? I am getting around 3.5 Amps out of the door lock switch and the locks work. However, I can get 3.5 Amps out of a Bosch relay at 12 Volts and it won't lock the door. I checked every single connection including the relay and all have 3.5 Amps @ 12 Volts when appropriate. Any thoughts? Thanks. Justin

I am in no way the authority on any means of electric parts and what not, but from what I have gathered... could it be that the relay has different throws... like a normally open or normally closed relay.. if it is different than the OEM relay it wouldn't work

ie the switch in original format is normally open and supplies current when the relay is closed via the switch, but if your relay now is currently closed it wouldn't work.

thats just what comes to my mind anyway.. I hope I gave you some help

Do a loaded voltage drop check "when the current is running on the wire". Also, check to see if it is not a mechanical issue such as a sticking lock.

I figured it out. Long story short, I did not ground relay # 87. The door locks have reverse polarity when the opposite switch is used. For example, when locking, a + single is sent out and the unlock wire becomes grounded. Anyways, I grounded 87 and it works great. Thanks for the input.
