Are the lights at the bottom of each of the four doors funtional on US models?

When I open any one of the four doors, the small light at the bottom of the door does not illuminate. It does not matter whether the light switch is set to "door" or "off". No difference either whther I use the key to lock it or not.

Is this light functional on US models or just a reflector? If it is a light, how do you get it to function with the rest of the interior lights?

Oh - and "yes" - I RTFM and did not see any info on this.

Help me! I'm in the dark, here people. Literally and figuratively.

Between basting blasts on your bird (or just to hide out from your mother-in-law) please kindly head on out to your garages and see if the lights at the bottom of your LC200 illuminate.

I'm stumped folks, I have tried every permutation of switch settings and I can't get the lights on the bottom of the doors to illuminate.

I wonder if this is one of those "custom settings" that has to be done through the computer by the Toyota techs?

Or, could it be that these lights are wired in a loop which is broken if any one or more of the bulbs is out?

Still have dark feet.

Have you checked that they actually have bulbs in? Some OZ models are wired but have no bulb or bulb holder.

Just pop the bottom of the door card off to check.

Interesting. One of the lenses was kind of loose so i popped it open. Inside, I find just what you are talking about. Wires, some kind of jack and a bulb electrical taped to a cradle. But it did not look like there was a bulb receptacle. Maybe on the line during production they were out of certain parts and just shipped anyway? Hard to believe that Toyota would do this, but maybe?

I cannot seem to figure out how to open the other lenses as they are sealed tight. Any idea of how to do this?

Does everyone else's lights illuminate? Mine was a March 2008 build date according to the build tag in the driver door frame.

Wow...I wonder what else they forget to plug in! lol

Mine are fine and illuminate...I'm not sure of build date, but it was one of the first. I picked the vehicle up off a lot in early January.

I think you might want to go to your dealership :meh: :hhmm:

Yeah, I'm putting this on the list for the next trip to the dealer. I'm just a bit surprised and disappointed to be dealing with this kind of issue on a Toyota. Especially the most expensive Toyota sold. This is like a GM of the late 1970s kind of problem. :bang:

All 4 lenses are the same. Just lever off the bottom of the door trim a little at the light and put your hand up inside to release the tab on the lense and it will fall out the front.

I too found it unbelievable that Toyota went to the trouble of wiring the lights on my car but then stopped short of putting in a bulb holder & bulb. Have to spend another $30K on the top of the range model to get the bulbs as standard!

Wait, you have the same situation as me? Did your dealer hook it all up under warranty?

No. It's not a warranty issue. The 'base' model is not specified with door lights. We just get a reflector with a power supply. My point is that Toyota could have improved the car for the cost of 4 light bulbs and did not bother.

I noticed this on my boss's GXR over in the UAE.

So... does anyone have the part number for the functional replacements?
