The rear door flare brackets on Project Griffin is rusted and one of the rivets is missing on each. The door skin is bubbling behind the bracket, so I will have to remove and treat.

Triple question:

Did anyone remove their flares and have some of these brackets?

How do I remove that rivet? The outer ring seems like aluminum, but the inside is a hard metal.

What do I use to replace the brackets with? A nut/bolt will not fit. I am not sure what kind of rivet this is.

Not sure what that is either, but it drills out ok.
Then used standard rivets to re-secure the bracket to the door. It's held up so far after 2 years or so.

Gerhard, I have the rivets. They are standard (metric) aluminum pop rivets, although you can buy them singly, for a dear price, from Toyota. They're listed on the parts lists for the door "over fenders".

I may have the bracket(s) on the shelf. LMK if you need them.
