Noticed my driver door was a little wonky when opened all the way, and I saw that the piece that the door check strap is pinned to had come loose. Looked like a couple of spot welds had failed. I held it in the correct position and used a step drill bit to drill all the way through the panel and the back of the check strap retainer and was able to to secure it with a couple of machine screws. Problem solved, I hope. Not sure how this happened!
