2006 LX, door ajar light doesn't ever turn off all the way, even after closing door, even after locking car.... the light simply gets dimmer but not quite off. The main dome light goes (and stays) off soon as last door closed, which I would assume means the sensors appear to be working.

Driving me a bit crazy and it appears to be slow-draining my battery as well. Ran a search on the forums and didn't come up with much - hopefully someone else has gone through this and has some ideas for me?

Thanks!

Well shoot.

I didn't know these trucks has such a warning light as mine has never come on. Ever.

I figure you've got it worse Aqualung. My ignorance was hitherto bliss.

if the door switches are working and the door courtesy light goes out when you push on the switch then it's not the switches and I'd assume an instrument panel, LED, body ECU, water entry issue. But it's an LED so it woulldn't matter if the light stayed on in the instrument panel.
IF though it keeps the body ECU awake then it could be a bigger drain.

I would think you couldn't lock you car wirelessly if the ECU thought a door was open.
I'd probably spray contact cleaner inside the switch boots and make sure that bolt ground is good. Pretty sure they are one wore sensors.

I'd sit there are watch the drain for 30 minutes with a beer and key far far way. All doors open and wait for the door lights to go out, if they do.
If they don't you have an issue. if they do then the car is really asleep.
I'd use the milliamp number for standard draw.

I'm working this issue right now also.

SUMMARY:
Issue: Door Ajar Light dim but remains on when headlights are off regardless of engine state (on and off). Door Ajar Light turns off when headlights are on. Door Ajar Light can be turned on while headlights are on by turning Dash lights to full brightness...

I noticed the passenger side floor was wet and it looks like my sun roof drain was clogged. I unclogged it using weed trimmer light and an air compressor. I'm wondering if some of that water was running through a door pillar next to a switch...

TASKS:

  • Check Relay
  • Check Fuses for corrosion
  • Check Contact Switches for corrosion and moisture
