No joke, I'm cross-shopping a new 2025 Camry vs a 2014 4Runner vs a 2024 GR Corolla vs 1995 GT-R. Also waiting on 2026 Rav4. This is how everyone shops, right..? ROFL.

I was cross shopping some weird stuff last time I bought a...VAN! Every salesman didn't know what to say when they asked what else I was considering. Good to be able to have another means of getting these guys off their game.

I own both. I took me a long time to get to a place where I could buy the 200 series I wanted. Now I know... The 200 series is it's own thing! It's not a bigger more luxurious 4Runner, or even a Japanese version of the American full-size counterparts. It drives and feels different than most everything else.

I have considered the LC250 as a replacement for my 5th gen 4runner but to me it wouldn't be an upgrade. Sure it has more power and a fresh new look. But they drive nothing alike. And the 4Runner is so cheap and easy to maintain. The only similarities I find are, they both are 4 door SUV's made by Toyota and they share the same wheel bolt pattern (not the same wheels though). When I run the numbers for the cost of selling my 5th gen and buying an LC250, I realize that I can do a LOT of mods for the difference in price! That has convinced me to go big with my new plans for my 4runner. It's going to become much more of an overland trail rig. Buying an LC250 would limit me compared to the new capability my upgraded 4runner will have!

Around 2008/2009 I really wanted a hot hatch and went to look at a Golf GTI. Left the dealership in a 996 turbo.

I'll likely end up buying a 250 one of these days, probably in the GX550 OT form.

Of course on my way to the Lexus dealer, I'll likely buy a Corolla or a bus... who knows.

Haha the 996 is long gone, had it for 4 weeks and sold it. I used to not keep cars longer than a few months at most, with a few more permanent exceptions. If I do get a 250, it will certainly be the former.

At least you still have both and can objectively see the differences between them, as opposed to having traded in your 200 (or even worse never had one) and keep making delusional arguments to defend the light duty Prado, so you can feel better and justify your purchase. This is the essence of the 250 forum if you dare to say anything bad about the Prado.
