I don't have a switch to turn the dome lights on when the doors are closed. Each dome light has an on switch, but is love a master switch to turn them on.

Any idea of how to wire this up? Something simple with the dome light relay?

I'm in a HZJ105 from Dubai ;)

I would love to have the same type of switch in my 100!

The dome lights are controlled by the Body ECU not by simple circuits. I don't think there's an easy way to accomplish this.
It would be easier to add some strip LED's and such around the cab and wire them into a new switched circuit.

Thanks for the reply. I'm ordering some strips to try out. I'm currently having trouble with my dome lights activating with the doors, maybe you can "shed some light"? Here's what happens when opening doors:

Drivers front: 2nd rowdome light
Passengers front: 2nd rowdome light
Drivers middle: nothing
Passengers middle: 2nd and 3rd row dome lights
Rear barn doors: nothing

Is this wiring problem? Or relay? Do the front doors only turn on the front (2nd row)dome light? So maybe my Drivers middle and rear sensors are out?

Or is it an ECU problem?

Probably not an ecu problem.
Do you get the dash 'door ajar' light when you open the rear hatch or drivers 2nd row?
If not, then your problem is probably the door sensor switch, which I believe completes the ground side of that circuit.

I'll test the drivers side doors tomorrow.

But where is the sensor for the barn doors? I'm not seeing the typical switch there. Is in inside the panel itself?

For the 2nd row it's a rubber covered button on the truck body. If you have what we here refer to as 'ambulance' rear doors then I'm not sure where that switch is on the rear.

Hi – I guess it is your HZJ 105 from 98?

If so, I don’t have the electrical schematics, but it will be kind of easy to make a master switch that turns on/off the dome light. You have to extend (connect to) the wire that goes to your middle door (left or right). The wire from the middle doors will, when connected through the door switch to ground, turn on the light in both dome lights.

If you take this new wire and extend to where you want your new switch, and through the switch connect to ground – then you have your solution.

Be sure though to remember to turn it off when not used, as it might drain your battery (I am not sure for your model – but for my 07 there is a timer that when key is out and doors locked turns off the dome light after 5-10 minutes)
