I have read several good books on Labradores and dog care in general. None of them have touched on this. Thanks for the info. I'll check him out when i get home and if it looks infected i'll put some peroxide and then neo on it.

Peace,
alex

Beau is my meathead :)

Labs are clones, they all look the same!

beauty there pimp.

How can you say that IDave? THat's like saying all white people are the same, or all husky's are the same dog. Sure they look relatively similar, but are completely different personalities.

My Aussies could whip your Lab's ass! :D

Don't worry at all about your dog's splinter, dogs are pretty resilient animals and it's a long ways from his heart. I give our dogs aspirin after long days and it is fine, the product labeled for animals is usually Banamine and it is basically liquid aspirin w/another inflamation reducing agent. The vet will give you 300mg Etogesic tablets most likely and you will be out probably $100 and your time for the visit to the clinic. My younest dog had a bad limp a couple weeks ago, couldn't find a thorn so i called the vet out. He found a mushy tendon above the elbow joint and gave him a shot and handed me a bunch of these Etogesic pills, said he uses them himself when he gets sore so if there were leftovers then i could use them for a hangover.

No wonder that dog stepped on something he shouldn't have...He can't see!
Seriously, thats a nice lookin lab. I've got a 14 yr old black lab thats still get around pretty good for 100+lbs. I don't have to worry too much about him hurting his foot cause he only walks from his bed to his crapping grounds and back. He's been a good one.

Yea, he got into my stash!

I'm thinking about getting another one so he can have some company. I've got a pound puppy that's a mut and he's a great dog, just getting old. THe lab is all over him all day long driving him crazy. I'm thinking on a black lab this time.

By the way, he's barely limping now, so all is good! I appreciate the info you guys have given me.
