Question. Can someone look for a U.S. 1958 parts catalog and see what the instrument cluster is supposed to look like? I have seen instrument clusters with the early 1957 shaped odometer like mine in mph and others like Toyota's 1958 FJ25 have the later white face cluster. The pdf 1958 parts catalog shows the earlier cluster should be on the 1958 model. The May 1959 parts catalog that I have shows that in 1959, they changed to the white faced cluster with more modern commonly shaped odometer.
My oem 1958 instruction manual shows the earlier speedometer in the photos like mine. All illustration are showing left hand drive models. It also shows that the e-brake, transmission, and transfer case levers are in separate shift holes in the transmission tunnel like mine as well. Most fj25's as you all know have the hand brake and t-case shifter in the same hole next to the drivers right leg.
Why the differences?
