hello Mudder,

Since I bought my lx in 2014, came with 2 sets of rims, OEM and 20 inches from Tundra. PO had 20" set for winter and 18 inches in the summer. since then, I had the 20" rims on the truck and never used the 18 yet.
I shipped the truck to Middle East and we have all kind of speed bumps here, rumble strips, the round metal bump, etc. whenever I go over them, specially with low speed, the car shakes badly otherwise, the car is very nice and smooth.

I do all the maintenances service to my LX
AHC always flushed every 30K
axles, u joint, shaft, bushings,,,,etc

bottom line, car is in perfect condition except this issue.

do you think rims causing this shakes? will the 18" will be softer on the bumps?

not being lazy to try my other set, but they need new tires, tpms removed and placed them in the 20" rims.

The tundra’s 20s probably doesn't clear the 100’s hub.
Why wouldn’t they? All other tundra rims clear our hubs just fine.

OP a 20” rim is definitely going to ride more rough than a smaller diameter rim.

Whenever you go over a bump, it’s supposed to shake. Maybe your ahc globes are weak, cannot absorb the impact.

globes are fine, I did the ahc test (up and down) and have more than 13 lines difference

Ive got 20s on mine. No shaking. Ride isnt as nice as with 16s.

Do they all really? Any experience with this? I know for a fact that a set of 17s and a set of 20s that doesn't fit without spacers.

Yes... it’s been heavily discussed that all late model OEM tundra wheels fit our rigs. The tundra wheel thread has over 30 pages. The spacers are simply to clear the hubcap which would not cause any performance issues.

Rock warriors being an exception because the bore doesn’t extend all the way through the wheel.

The tunda bbs 20s doesn't clear and its possible that the OP has a set.

last week i drove Porado and it was VERY smooth on those bump as i were driving on flat street.

20" rims with what size tire? A lack of sidewall will inherently mean they don't ride as well. But sounds like you have some worn out suspension components. They don't always present themselves on smooth roads. For example ball joints that are about ready to be replaced may ride fine on a smooth road, bump ans you go through rougher areas they'll show their age by clunking. Similar idea with control arm bushings, tie rod ends, CVs, etc. Your sig says 200k miles, you can't expect your vehicle to be 100% perfect with no mechanical wear. The great thing about front suspension....just replace the parts and it'll ride like new.

Could easily be something simple like loose lug nuts...This happened to me once and it took me a while to track it down.

On an LC my first guess would be shocks but with he AHC I will leave that assessment to the experts.

REGARDLESS OF ANY OF THESE OPINIONS...Does it shake with the 18s installed? I think you need to install the other rims before even asking if it is caused by the 20" rims...that will answer your question without a bunch of speculation from us random internet people.
