I was notified last week that my FJ was one of the 9000 built that was eligible for the tire recall. So when i had it in at the dealership for inspection they told me that i would be recieving 5 new tires, I'm selling the Dunlop Grandtreks to a friend that was looking for some all season tires on his truck and will be putting on some 285/70R17 Goodyear MTR's on in their place. I've got the Rev Tek lift waiting for install and was just wondering whether or not the MTR's will rub the control arms? and if so will I need spacers?

Are you using the stock rims? If you are, they will fit without the lift. I have that exact tire on my truck, with zero rubbage. Even while wheeling.

Good to know but i've got the lift going in anyhow. I talked to a local Off-road shop when i was inquiring about the Rev Tek lift pricing, he said and i quote " that's the Pavement Princess lift" he said i should go with Old Man Emu. I told him if he would give me the extra 1200-1500 bucks i would gladly put it in.

How much room do you have between the tires and the a-arms? I'm thinking of going with the 34's MTR (305/70-17) on the stock rims, I've already trimmed the body mounts.. but havn't seen anybody try this yet and the only issue might be the a-arm with the stock rims.

The tires don't actually go on till next week so i'm not sure how much room there will be. But RunnerRyan has the same tires maybe he could let you know.

I just put on the 285's MTR's with no lift and have had zero problems so far. There is someone with the 305's over on fjcruiserforums.com that has the body mounts chopped and isnt having any problems....with 3" lift...so shouldn't be a problem. I think the 295 toyo mt's is also a great setup except for the nation wide backorder and pricing.

I'm trying to think, but I can't think of where the tire COULD touch the A-arms. It's too dark out, now, but I will try to check it out tomorrow.

It would be the upper a-arm, with the stocks it's got about an inch or so clearance..

Just checked...I can almost get my whole hand in between the tire and the A-arm. Plenty of room.
