Do I have a warped rotor?

When breaking it doesn't feel even. When applying pressure it feels like I'm lightly pumping the breaks. It's pretty slight sensation. Also, I really need new pads. They're worn down beyond the point where I can't see how much is left. I've been neglectful.

If the rotor is warped can it be turned or do I need new rotors? They are in good shape visually. Not perfectly smooth, but decent with only a very tiny lip around the edge.

Oh... If I need new rotors can they be replaced without bleeding the brakes? I'm thinking of doing it myself.

What do you tink?

Yup, you've got warped rotors most likely. Sometimes they can be turned. I think this really depends on how good the shop is at grinding them. If you have them ground and change the pads at the same time you may have good results. My experience in the past has been that once they warp, if you just change pads it comes right back, if you just grind the rotors, it just comes right back.

Also, if you have this work done, immediately thereafter check the lugnut torque to make sure they aren't overtorqued.

I need new pads now (I mean NOW). Any disadvantage to just changing out the pads and letting the rotors slide for a bit?

I've got to do the 6 year/90K service pretty soon. I'd like to get it all done at once.

You'd spend the money on pads and the rotors would still be warped, not really solving the vibration problem.

Any grooves that the rotors have will immediately wear the new pads to the same shape as your old ones. Like Ryan said, the shakes will pop right back up. Maybe not the first day, but it won't be long.

No shakes. Just a light even pulse. I'm gonna pick up some pads tonight and throw them on. Now that I think about it the pulsing started shortly after I had the tires rotated. I'm going to check the torque on the lugs.

If it doesn't fix it I'll place a big order with C-Dan. Need all the parts for the 90K service anyway.

Thanks guys!

Change the pads, and see if you can live with the pulsing feeling. My 100 has an ever-so-slight-only-an-LC-fanatic-could-tell pulse. I've never been a fan of turning rotors unless at last resort.

Sometimes you will get a pulsing feeling when you have air bubbles in your brake like. I would give em a good bleed when you change your pads to see if that helps too.

Changing the pads helped for now. Thanks guys.
