Truck has sat for many years and I'm trying to get in good running condition before trying to tackle the rust. Had a front disc caliper stick on first test drive. Put a new one on so good there. Had rear up on jack stands to look at rear drum brakes. Only a very small amount of braking was noted on the driver side. None on the passenger side. Pulled drums off. No noticiable movement of pads when pedal is depressed. No fluid leaking anywhere. Have tried to bleed passenger side (2 person method) several times with no luck. Fluid never clears. It must be sucking air somewhere but shouldnt it also leak fluid there as well? Also wondering if the wheel cylinders are stuck? How can I tell? :bang:

1978 fj40 no mods. Front disc and drum on rear

make sure your master isn't leaking into your booster. same issues here and slowly lost fluid into the booster. couldn't figure it out by looking at it. take master off booster and if wet on booster, rebuild master or get a new one. test vacuum on boosterwhile it's disconnected to make sure that's ok. replace wheel cylinder if in doubt. They're cheap at CCOT when you buy pairs.

you can bleed all you want, but if it leaks into the booster, you'll never get pressure.

I had great results with my rebuild kit from Cruiser Outfitters. Mine was for my clutch but I'm sure you can get what you need from Kurt. Plus the kit I bought was made in Japan.
