Well as many of you know some or all old asian and european land cruisers don't have the year code as the tenth digit in the VIN #. In fact my japanese BJ73 only has 11 digits in the VIN and I had no trouble getting it registered here in New Brunswick, Canada.
Well today I went in to get my german LJ73 registered and the woman refused me, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ALREADY REGISTERED IN CANADA, P.E.I. actually. The tenth digit is a 0, which is not used to show the year of a vehicle so she said she can't verify the year of the truck. I explained to her that this is a european vehicle and the there is no year indicator in the VIN. She talked to her supervisor and told me that I had to get a letter from our local toyota dealership stating that the vehicle was indeed a 1988. So I went to toyota without high hopes, he typed in the VIN and nothing came up. no surprise there. He sent an email to Toyota Canada explaining the situation and said he'd give me a call when they get back to him. I don't expect a response.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice for me!?
