I picked up a pair of wrx seats and I’m stoked on how comfortable they are!
I put in the driver seat and just sat in it. seriously, night and day.

My next step is to fab some brackets and before I start I have a couple questions for those who have ventured before me.

First question:
Is there an easier/ better way than reusing the OEM Toyota feet, welding a piece of 1/4” steel between the fronts and backs respectively and then welding the wrx seats (feet removed) to the steel stock?

Second:
Is it necessary to flatten the hump near the front right DS seat bracket considering the above method?
When I tossed the seat in and sat down I noticed a hump off of the transmission tunnel that made the seat sit at an angle pointing away from the center console, steering wheel was then off center. I think I saw someone bash it in with a sledge hammer. I guess if it’s still a problem i’ll Need to flatten mine.

Third:
The left hand bolster on the seat back seems to be in contact with and will be forever rubbing up against the b-pillar.
Is this part of the deal or will this get corrected once I center the seat to the steering wheel...is it possible to center the seat on the steering wheel?

Thanks fellas, beers on me:beer::beer::beer:

For your first question, I just used some fairly thick flat stock and bent it into shape. Seems pretty solid. Doubt it would pass a safety inspection though!

I didn't take a pic of the final product but you get the idea. I had to add the outer pieces running front to back to match the WRX rails.

Second question: yes. I had to beat the hell out of those humps to get enough clearance to get the seat pretty straight.

Third question: I'd have to go check but pretty sure mine is not making contact but it's close.

For what it's worth, I'm 5'11" and 230 lbs. These seats are borderline too narrow for my big ass but they are pretty comfy, especially compared to my old, hard OEM seats. They do sit up higher than OEM too.

Thought this was a helpful shot of @jcardona1 ’s brackets. From stellar built’s instagram page. Looks like a similar thing could be fabbed with the OEM seats and a piece of flat stock...

Where is the shot?

I used Planted seat brackets and after some cardboard aided design had some flat brackets cut out and bolted it all together...no welding required.

I kind of seek out the opportunity to weld, also to save money, and also to homebrew. I’ll look at the planted brackets and take notes.

Did you have to flatten the bumps by the transmission tunnel?

Yes I had to massage the corner of the tunnel ridge down...was a bit if a PIA, but well worth it...the seats are incredibly cofortable.
