Hey everyone:
I have been looking on Mud for a while today, and tonight, and going back and messing with my 76 40 (Chassis done, engine in, and just hooking up the coil, etc to test run). I have found guys with issues with distributors, but I think mine might be fine...
My issue is that I may be getting OVERLY picky on the sounds I am getting once I have it running. The engine sounds great, but the distributor is giving off a rattling sound (same as RPM - direct from distributor). As far as I can tell, I have narrowed it down to the "weights" that spin under the points. Both of my distributors are old, but seem to run the engine fine. (I have one other distributor from another 76' that I pulled - this truck is going to get done next).
I have the distributors seated all the way in (fun lining up the oil pump when you get it spun).
My question is this - does everyone out there get a noticable "rattle" from their distributor? (kind of like a faint "dieseling" sound) - or are both of mine pooched??
Is there a grease that would be recommended for the weights? - maybe new springs?
