My wife's 2005 will periodically engage the center diff all by itself. The button on the dash will not be engaged, but some electrical gremlin is engaging it.

Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions as to how to disable the ability for the center diff to engage?

Unplugging the switch seems obvious, but given that the switch is not engaged when the diff engages, that doesn't seem to be a likely solution.

Anybody been in the dash recently? Aftermarket stereo, GPS, heater-A/C repair? It would have to be a short in the circuit somewhere grounding out and making the actuator do it's thing.
With the switch unplugged, it still does it?

The dealer put in sat radio when we bought it, but that's it. I will pull the switch wire to deactivate it and see if that stops the problem, but want to see if anyone else has run into this issue before I start pulling wires.

Pull the switch first, there have been many instances of the switched being bumped when turning around to do something for the kids and other things, normally knocked by a knee, it can be hard to tell if the switched is actually depressed. Hopefully this is it and not a short somewhere.

Is the dashlight coming on ?
