Hey folks.
After searching, it looks like it is possible to disable the automatic retraction of the telescoping steering wheel. Does anyone know if this is a DIY modification? One reference I saw said that the dealer had to do it.

Do it you yourself with techstream. There's a good thread around here somewhere.

I disabled the auto tilt/telescope and DRL and programmed a couple of keys while I was in there. Pretty easy.

Straight forward with TechStreeam

Is there a definitive thread for getting set up with TechStream? Looks like there are some pitfalls with getting the correct OS, drivers, etc.

I had the same worries but had no problem and I still use a flip phone:flipoff2:

I took mine by Lexus store, took them 1 minute, guy came out to the service drive plugged in and reprogrammed. Not even my dealership. They did it for free.

I have an old laptop with XP. Works fine with the cable & software from amazon.

Does this eliminate the irritating motor noise that emanates from the steering column (4X as loud as the air mixer) seemingly every time I start the vehicle...and often every few minutes while driving?

I found what appeared to be the fuse for the tilt/telescope, but that fuse also has SRS duty...so hardly want to pull that bugger!
