Not sure if thie is how everyone's dash light rheostat/dimmer works or not? It seems to reach max brightness about halfway through it's revoultion (which is just over a half turn of the wheel). The rest of the wheel movement provides no increase in brightness.
I thought I'd switch it out with another identical dash trim piece that had the rheostat in it, with the same results. So I'm 2/2. Test trim piece was from a '99.
Figuring there might be something simple, I took the rheostat apart, and it's a tiny circuit board with a 6 pin chip, a resistor and a few other parts on it. Not as simple as I would have hoped.
Anyway, does your dimmer behave in the same manner - reaching full brightness way before maxing out knob travel?
