Running into dillon wood sunday , leaving my house bout 8 am anyone want to go?

Cool got a text from 1 more member he's meetin me at my house, if we can get one more ... Make it official club run ohhhhhh....

Lol you guys slow down ... I can't respond to all the Pms and thread replys.....

So we went, saw,and got the the tee shirt!

Heading up to dillon wood we met the local fish and game( he drives a 4runner) pulled out his map showed us where to head down the trail. So we had an escort all the way to the trail....

While up there they had a fire crew cutting back a lot of the trail, talked the trail boss he was from Arizona (fj55 owner)....

Not too bad of a day, just me and Slickrock , half way up the trail , slick ripped a side wall, we threw on his spare and kept going. Got a little ways past the bridge , had to turn around because of a tree down across the road

I'll post a few pics later this week... Fun to explore a new area, but over an hour to go 30 miles before the trail and still low enough to feel the valley heat, not so much. Maybe better in early spring when everything is green and can fish the stream with a little camping thrown in to spice it up. Both of us have some major new pin striping. A few were deep enough to feel with a fingernail.

Yea I really don't mind the scratches ... But bout 2 miles past bridge a tree was down ? Kinda tight trail no where to really park and let the kids run? I'll run it again to go further up ? But I'm not totally sold , could be a cool Lil night run or winter run when its cooler out? Just my .02

When you find the Snow Pole and the waterfall, both are past the cabins, you have made it to the top.

Found out last saturday that traveling past the bridge is technically tresspassing. I'm working on getting that changed.

Lol is that what the two big white road barrier things are for at the bridge...

Yes. That is currently the official End of the trail. Anything past the bridge is tresspassing and they can technically write you a ticket.

Is it just that you can't drive past that point, or does it become private property again?

One of the references I've found for the area is this page, where these folks parked at the creek and hiked on in to the Sequoia grove. http://www.tarol.com/dillonwood.html :hhmm: Were they trespassing?

Go get a current OHV map of the area and you will see.

The newest maps clearly show the OHV road closed.

Tarol stopped because that is all the further his vehicle would go due to the rockslide.

Well work on it Dan like I said interested exploring alittle more...

I would not do the trail again when the valley is 100 degrees. It was way too hot. At night or cooler/wet months might reconsider. Had to do a 10 point turn to flip around at the top.
