This one is not a fair comparison when discussing the merit's between the 2 Toyota products.

Unless I'm mistaken, this one is a highly modified Sequoia, with a SAS using both F & R solid axle unit's from an F350 FORD, with lockers, etc.

It belongs (or belonged) to one of our members (Pilot) who was/is being transferred to Europe.
He was looking to sell/or trade for a stocker. Apparently the Europeans won't allow those sort of mods over there![]()
I hate to ressurect this but.....
I put forth a letter to Toyota in simple terminology. I said that I was in the market for a 200LC or a Sequoia and will use the vehicle for fairly moderate 4wd use for many years. I asked which would be the better vehicle for this type of driving. This was the response (from the horses mouth):
Thank you for your interest in Toyota.
Based on the way you are looking to use the vehicle, the Land Cruiser would be the better choice due to its drivetrain (full-time 4-wheel drive and Crawl Mode), approach/departure/breakover angles and suspension (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS)) provide increased off-road capabilities.
The Sequoia does have a slightly higher ground clearance, is larger as you mention and costs less than Land Cruiser. While it will handle rough off-road situations it is designed primarily as an on-road vehicle as shown by its Multi-Mode 4-wheel drive system.
The Land Cruiser definitely has the beefier construction. It is built for use and sale world wide and has proven reliability where the Sequoia, which is a competent vehicle, but was built for the North American market and again for mainly for on-road use and comfort.
As part of the KDSS, the sway bars can be disconnected for enhanced off-road suspension travel and uses a sold rear axle and the Land Cruiser has skid plates for the front suspension, radiator, fuel tank and transfer case. The Sequoia uses an independent rear suspension to provide a more comfortable ride and a skid plate is present for the engine and transfer case only and only on vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive.
As far has how well the vehicle will hold up after years of hard use that is hard to say but the Land Cruiser is the vehicle designed specifically for to handle the kind of use you seem to want to use it for. Obviously abuse or far exceeding the vehicle's limitations could shorten any vehicle's performance life span but you can have confidence in the abilities designed into the Land Cruiser.
pagemaster is probably a pimple faced teenager living in the burbs and dreaming of the day he can drive.
And Mark, you are probably some tatooed loser playing with his rifle in the sticks.....oh yeah and you probably don't have any teeth either.....keep shooting those beer cans you ****ing loser.![]()

Have you ever used your cruiser to head to the sticks to shoot cans? You may be underestimating how fun it is, just sayin...![]()
Actually, my Land Cruiser was the only Toyota EVER to leave me stranded. While I didn't shoot cans, I had to eat squirrel meat to stay alive.
Just saying...
