Any SUV would get stuck on that farm.

Check out the Sequoia blow away a LC 105

YouTube - ‪Toyota Sequoia off road.mp4‬‏

The Sequoia looks like a tank cutting through the snow

Did you even watch that video? The Sequoia has chains on!:bang:

Hahaha... Funny thing is that the Sequoia didn't make it that much farther on the path that the LAND CRUISER had already blazed through... WITHOUT CHAINS!!!

This one is not a fair comparison when discussing the merit's between the 2 Toyota products.

Unless I'm mistaken, this one is a highly modified Sequoia, with a SAS using both F & R solid axle unit's from an F350 FORD, with lockers, etc.

It belongs (or belonged) to one of our members (Pilot) who was/is being transferred to Europe.
He was looking to sell/or trade for a stocker. Apparently the Europeans won't allow those sort of mods over there:(

Well someone asked for pics of a Sequoia off-road.

Like I have said so many times, the Land Cruiser/Sequoia or the 4runner/Prados are all designed to do the exact same thing. The only difference is that North American full size suv customers demand a IRS. Its only a matter of time before the rest of the world demand the IRS as well

Here is a Prado stuck

Interesting, you post pictures of a capable off road Sequoia and one of the reasons it's so capable is that it has a rear solid rear axle, hmmmm.

Pagemaster, if you're looking for pictures of off road vehicles stuck, I'm sure you'll find it. Even the best 4wd vehicle in the world will get stuck. It's part of the nature of serious offroading. That's why the winch was invented.

All designed to do "the exact same thing" my big huge.........

I hate to ressurect this but.....

I put forth a letter to Toyota in simple terminology. I said that I was in the market for a 200LC or a Sequoia and will use the vehicle for fairly moderate 4wd use for many years. I asked which would be the better vehicle for this type of driving. This was the response (from the horses mouth):

Thank you for your interest in Toyota.

Based on the way you are looking to use the vehicle, the Land Cruiser would be the better choice due to its drivetrain (full-time 4-wheel drive and Crawl Mode), approach/departure/breakover angles and suspension (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS)) provide increased off-road capabilities.

The Sequoia does have a slightly higher ground clearance, is larger as you mention and costs less than Land Cruiser. While it will handle rough off-road situations it is designed primarily as an on-road vehicle as shown by its Multi-Mode 4-wheel drive system.

The Land Cruiser definitely has the beefier construction. It is built for use and sale world wide and has proven reliability where the Sequoia, which is a competent vehicle, but was built for the North American market and again for mainly for on-road use and comfort.

As part of the KDSS, the sway bars can be disconnected for enhanced off-road suspension travel and uses a sold rear axle and the Land Cruiser has skid plates for the front suspension, radiator, fuel tank and transfer case. The Sequoia uses an independent rear suspension to provide a more comfortable ride and a skid plate is present for the engine and transfer case only and only on vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive.

As far has how well the vehicle will hold up after years of hard use that is hard to say but the Land Cruiser is the vehicle designed specifically for to handle the kind of use you seem to want to use it for. Obviously abuse or far exceeding the vehicle's limitations could shorten any vehicle's performance life span but you can have confidence in the abilities designed into the Land Cruiser.

BULL$HIT

I smell a snuffleupagus

Pagemaster, I knew you wouldn't accept this response or any other response from anyone that has any knowledge about these vehicles. Contact Toyota yourself, I'm sure whatever they say you will disregard if it doesn't support your beliefs.

I asked them which was the better choice for moderate-heavy 4wd conditions, and which vehicle would stand up better to many years of hard use on such terrain.

I do like the fact that they used the word "beefier" in the letter.

patrickfinley, do you have kids? would you argue with your six year old?

pagemaster is probably a pimple faced teenager living in the burbs and dreaming of the day he can drive.

Pagemaster, you really need to attend a remedial smack down class.

Smack down hint: Don’t copy smack downs from the Sierra Club forums for use on forums like ih8mud. Using a 200 series to transport ones guns out into the “sticks” would generally be considered a legitimate use of a 200 series on a forum such as ih8mud. The “you drive a Prius to the mall” generic smack down will get you further on these forums.

Bonus smack down hint: Run a spelling check when you attempt the generic redneck smack down. Misspelling tattoo in a post that attempts to use the generic redneck smack down really just makes the poster look like an internet experience only dweeb. Like you really are a pimply faced teenager who copied the smack down from the xbox forum where a redneck smack down was used by one pimply faced teenager on another pimply faced teenager and all the other pimply faced teenagers jumped in with what a awesome smack down it was.

Have you ever used your cruiser to head to the sticks to shoot cans? You may be underestimating how fun it is, just sayin... :grinpimp:

Island Times you have a point! Beercans, guns and Land Cruisers in the sticks make for a great combo.

Actually, my Land Cruiser was the only Toyota EVER to leave me stranded. While I didn't shoot cans, I had to eat squirrel meat to stay alive.

Just saying...

Ah, I see. The ol' one-issue-with-the-car-and-I'll-never-trust-it-again type.

Suddenly everything else makes that much more sense.
