Hi My son just bought a 1989 62 series petrol to replace his rusted out 1982 60 series and he wants to put the lockers from his 60 into the 62. The 60 is a 2f petrol with 4spd whereas the 62 is 3f petrol with a 5 spd box. Are the diff ratios any different between the two without having to remove them to find out?

Jack up the rear and turn a wheel and count how many times the driveshaft spins. You can put a chalk mark on the driveshaft and know if it is a 3.7 or 4.11.

Jack up ONE rear wheel and rotate it TWO times (this compensates for the 2:1 ratio created by the differential action of having one wheel fixed and the other free)

X100000

People screw this up all the time and think they have 2:1 diff gears...

This is 100% correct.
