I'm about to make a parts run and wondering which hose most use to extend their breathers? I saw a how-to thread that recommended 5/8" x 25' ..anyone know if the 5/8 is ID or OD? Also, fuel line/hoses which is what the how-to recommended seem to be $60-75 for 25', is there a cheaper option that will be sufficient? Thanks.

I bought 1/4 inch standard fuel line hose (like 1.50/ft at most stores). fit over rear diff barb without issues, havent tried front diff. I am planning on using about 5 foot on front and about 6 foot on rear to try to bring in rear DS quarter panel. Did the same in my 80. I am using 1/4 inch barb clear fuel filters on the other end. I will probably not mess with hose on transfer at this time.

You want old fashioned fuel line, not the high pressure fuel injection stuff which is much more money. 1/4 usually fits.

X3 it is 1/4" id tubing

I'd say what you really need is small o.d. 1/4" i.e. hose...e.g., vacuum hose or windshield washer hose. On the front end, you're working in a cramped area and using fuel line may make the job harder than need be.

So, you've got front diff and trans case breather hoses plugged into the trash dipstick tube maybe a foot or so above the pan. I removed these and plugged the poem openings on the dipstick tube. Bought a 1/4" plastic "Y" and stuck the poem breathers in. I ran a tube from the 3rd leg of the Y and ended up just a bit to the right (as you sit in the driver's seat) of the master cylinder bracket.

In the rear, I simply extended the oem breather, ending up on the inside of the gas fill door. Both front and rear breathers have a small plastic fuel filter on end end...check the small engine section of your auto parts store.

If you have an ARB locker in the rear, use clear plastic tubing for first foot or so at diff. Sometimes oil gets driven into tubing and stuck, with clear tubing you can check on it. Some posts here about this breather tube issue.

Ok so here is what I did. extended the diff breather at the front. ended up on PS fender. Extended the diff breather on the rear up into the DS jack cover area through the same grommet the sunroof drain comes through. May add a 1/4" joint in the rear line so can extend further in future if I do a lift.
