Diesel parts sources

Hi I have a '83 BJ60 that I'm in the process of taking the drive train out of and putting it in my '73 FJ40. I'm also taking the rear axle, front discs, and power steering.

I have found already that it is hard to find sources for parts as I am in the states.

How about a parts source list or at least where you guys have found good deals.The source does not have to be in the states. It would be nice to not have to scroll through endless threads looking for sources mentioned.

Part type, Name of store, and link or phone number.

Parts are easy for most any Land Cruiser.

Virtually all of the body parts for the BJ60s are the same as an FJ60. Many of the mechanical parts are the same. There are several dealers in Canada that sell diesel specific parts.

If you do little research, you'll find your parts very easy to locate.

John @ Radd deserves your business, and I am no shill. He's a mega geek when it comes to Cruisers, and his prices are fair.

For my diesel stuff I have used:

Radd (Vancouver Island)
4WheelAuto (Edmondton: Dan, Don and Kevin)
G&S Cruiserparts (also Canadian)
RooDogs4WheelSpares (Australian ebayer)
Specter (California)

All are good vendors, some are more fair on prices, and shipping and handling than others.
There are a few other vendors that carry diesel parts, but I will not mention them because I no longer use them, for various reasons. Stick to this list and you can't go wrong (except possibly Specter, as customer service varies wildly, and pricing is often not competitive at all.)

John is my favorite. Quite willing to work with you on parts, and even if he's busy, he will talk tech with you.

I have found already that it is hard to find sources for parts as I am in the states.

I own a 1985 BJ70 Landcruiser I live in the US, mine is a 3B I assume from your posting this is the engine you have.
I have not found it difficult to find or purchase parts, just a little more work than a standard vehicle.
I have a full copy of the Toyota fiche (for 10 different Landcruisers) which lists all parts for my rig, I would recommend you get one. It helps when you know what the part numbers are. I have called Toyota USA given them a part number and they could get it for me, on the same part I have had Toyota tell me they could not help when I ask them to look it up.
I have a complete set of parts drawings (these are a must have item), they are invaluable in all aspects of purchase and repair.

With the ability to source your own part numbers there are several good parts sources.
1. NAPA, has some parts at good prices, I sourced a water pump, ac compressor, alternator brushes, filters, thermostat.
2. Toyota it self both in the US as well as Canada will help, I have gotten alot of parts from them, you do need to find a parts counter person who will be willing to order Canadian destination parts, I have found one and it really helps.
4. G&S cruisers, G&S Cruiser Parts I can't say enough about them (Sheldon is a good man and a friend), they are great.
5. Dave Stedman Toyota 4X4 Japan4x4-Export stedman@japan4x4.com he is on mud, can't thank him enough for all his work, sourced for me the AC evaporator box to install AC in my rig (BJ70 Canadian destination, very hard to locate), can get parts that will amaze you.

This list is by no means complete, it is just my experience, most all Landcruiser people are good people and willing to help, hey they own Landcruisers, they share a common disease.

If you put in a little effort, contact people in the above list, you will find it far easier to get what you want or need.
I should have mentioned MUD as this is a great source for all kinds of info and parts.

Cool guys thanks. My intent was to have a thread where (new) people could look to find diesel specific parts sources with out having to ask the same questions you have all heard. Basically I want to have you guys chime in with your years of experience and new finds for parts sources. You know like a forum.

X2 on G&S, Sheldon is great to work with, Specter, helpful diagrams, and Dave Steadman at Japan 4x4. I also get a fair amount of stuff from Toyota and grooming a local parts guy who can think out of the box is indispensable. In my case my guy knows that the local dealership won´t order parts older than 25 years so we work around it by knowing if the same part is used in the 70 or 80 series. Because I swapped in a 1HZ we also now can look up and order parts from the Coaster bus list and at least one Dyna truck, although I confess I can´t remember which of those. I had been using ToyoDIY but since the diagrams were taken down I´m going to have to get a good copy of the current EPC so I can search for parts accross different series. Additionally I have had good results in working with Autozone, Summit Racing and Jegs for non diesel specific cruiser parts as well as stuff that I need for my turbo install as well as rear disc brake mod.
