Hi everyone, my name is KK,I'm from Malaysia. I'm new member here(sort of), been reading a lot for the pass few months. Getting all these great info regarding 100 series LC ( even though the one I bought is diesel) from here save me times in the process of getting a LC.
After a few months of searching, finally bought a 2 owner beige 2001 100 series auto LC ( G-spec new import directly from Japan) with 106xxx KM original mileage last weekend. I have already put on almost 2k KMs already in 5 days! The only maintenance record I got is oil change every 6 months from the date the second owner purchased that LC, which is 3 years ago. 2nd owner only put on less than 5k kms per year. My friend happen to be mechanic who also owns a 100 series LC helped me inspect the car gave me green light to purchase.
For a 15 years old LC, I didn't expect to find a perfect exterior, I can leave with a bit of nicks/scratches here and there, but still original paint. As for interior, owner replaced the original leather sits to new leather a bout a year ago due to cracking ( I actually prefer the aftermarket leather, a lot thicker compare to original).
After I bought the LC, 1st thing to do is to ask my friend replace AT fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid and air con belt. Owner just did oil change a month ago. I did the AHC hi/low test, found out that Hi will not stay Hi, will drop back to N right after it hit the maximum height. No problem for low. I'm guessing the "rubber ball" got problem. My friend told me not to worry for now because I don't really use the function which is true (use the LC mainly for long distance driving and DD)If anything happen to the AHC, would just swap them out. The other problem I didn't check during the inspection was the CD changer. I didn't know there is a cd stuck inside, now have to take apart the arm rest to fix the problem. Initially thought of swap out the factory navigation system but told by my other friend that the head unit can't swap out unless change/modify the whole thing. Is like the 2003+ model, can't just take them out and replace as the head unit also control the air con.
Here's the modifications list
1) add cd/MP3 player, sound system
2) plaining to swap out the AHC if any of the components fail, most likely ironman foam cell pro suspension
3)steering cover. The wooden parts cracked, looks ugly. Would probably buy the leather cover like the one posted by a member here.
4)adding 2pcs LED 5" spotlights
5) adding reverse camera
6) upgrades current alarm system
That's all for now.
