I am looking for a RUST FREE diesel TLC (or converted 4-runner, truck, etc) to purchase immediately.
-I would prefer a turbo'd engine, intercooled is even better
-I live in the Central Valley in California, so would prefer a truck with AC, even if it needs charging or connecting
-I would prefer a 5-speed manual (this will be my DD and will see a fair amount of freeway speed driving)
-I am flexible on lift, but will only be doing light off-roading, so probably nothing more than 2" lift/33"s
-Fuel Economy is very important to me- mid 20's (MPG) or better are ideal. If you have data to prove it, even better.
-I would prefer a clean interior, and am flexible on stereo.
-working gauges/controls/switches are a must
-I am open to Canadian trucks, but they must be LHD and RUST FREE (I know, crazy talk), and you must be willing to work with a Registered Importer.
-I am flexible on mileage, depending on condition/maintenance
-I am open to all body styles/models.
-quality is more important than price to me. I'd like to keep it under $18k, but it all depends on the truck.
I realize that this is a tall list, especially since I'm talking about a legal diesel and live in California, but there must be a good fit out there somewhere. I've been flaked on and given the runaround by unmotivated sellers more times than I care to think about over the past 3-4 months, so please, don't respond if you don't intend to ACTUALLY SELL YOUR TRUCK, or even communicate in a timely and respectful manner. I simply want a clean BUSINESS transaction.
I also realize that my profile says "rookie", but after the amount of time I've spent researching, and the fact that I have a master diesel mechanic as my advisor on this process, I don't feel like a rookie. So please, no hustlers.
