Hey mudders,

Like many of you, I lust after a diesel truck. I know this may be unrealistic, but does anyone have an idea on what would be more cost effective? Say I had a 100 series cruiser/lx470 what kind of costs am I looking at for a diesel conversion? OR would it be more efficient to import an HDJ and convert it to LHD?

I know we will have an influx of RHD arriving as the years come, I just don’t know if I want to adapt to RHD for a daily driver.

Thanks in advance!

Though more difficult to source, they sold LHD HDJ100's. I'd go that route.

You could also buy a good JDM 101 and a cheap well used 100 and combine to two.

This will be the easiest as you have both vehicles to do it even though somethings won’t just swap over like wiring harnesses.

Swapping in a 1HDFTE will get expensive even if you buy a used engine.

1HDFTE can be lackluster in stock form, especially if EGR equipped and all full of soot. A built up FTE with a Unichip and 30psi will blow your mind!

Cheers

You should test drive one. Most get used to it after about 15 minutes.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I’m not in a big rush, so will continue to read up and learn.
