that's your .... sh!t i knew the pipe name, it's to do with having blowby

they can suck oil up via the hose on the rocker cover and suck this oil into the intake manifold, ... i think it could be it, or put up with a couple of drops on the ground... the hose is to stop a vacum forming in the crankcase and sucking the seals to death

The Pipe going down the middle part of the Block on the right is a Breather and will drop Oil at the same time the Dip Stick gets to the high line.
Oil lands on the Slip Yoke of the Proppel Shaft. 8)

Bad, You're thinking of Positive Crankcase Ventilation.

got you...

Yeah thats the one But how do ya fix it :D

Please help me otherwise my wife wont let my truck sleep with her car in the garage :D :P

re route it with some hose to your air intake? that's what newer cars do.

The 13BT's, 12HT, 1HZ, etc all have routed crank case blowby into the air intake, to be burned. The valve covers are plumbed so the tube enters the air intake post air filter. In the turbo models, it is plumbed pre-turbo/post air filter.

I have not done this mod to any of my 3B's, however I've known of a few that have: Cut the blowby tube to a 1" nipple, and route it into the air intake tube, post filter.

You could also shorten the pipe a little, and attach a double cup, one can inside the other, reversed orientation, then attached to the tube. (Poor explaination, sorry, and no pictures to help). This would catch all the oil, and also have the benefit of creating an air pocket around the end of the blowby tube if you stall in deep water.

Here's a story from the farm....We had an old Cockshutt tractor that had so much blowby it sucked a litre of oil every hour and all of it was coming out that venting tube. We hooked a hose from the vent right back into the intake manifold. Problem solved and there was more power due to better compression with the oil getting in there

Haven't I read this some where before ;) :D

Another option is to attach a filter 'case' w/o element to the end or middle of the tube to catch the oil and allow ventalation. You can use an in-line filter for air lines, air tools, and compressors-I think Campshell makes some?. I did this on my 3fe'd 80 series to prevent my TPS sensor and plenum from getting gunked up from the valve cover vent hose.

Thats a good idea.............Cheers Dazz

Oh, and my brother takes the credit for my air-oil-separator-with-filter-removed thing I had to once do on an old Honda Accord as the breather fed PRE air cleaner and would gunk it up in there!

Actually, this inexpensive trick does work quite well :)

The crankcase ventaltion pipe That always spits out a tiny bit of oil normally on to the garage floor, is there anyway to either reroute this pipe or any other ideas

Cheers Dazz

I had the same issue on my BJ42 and for a short term fix (before I rebuild the 3B next year, well ok it has been that way for several years now) I put a tube on the pipe and routed it into my frame rail, keeps it nice and oil. I used about 3 foot section of tubing and have not seen it leak out of the frame yet I have put about 7k on the truck since I did that and it has been several years.

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks mate, you raised this thread from the dead :) I have recently changed my brand of oil from Penzoil to Motul on a recomendation seems to have eased the problem. Good idea running it to the chasis rails.

P.S Incase you are getting confused, I used to be brock05 but can't log on under that name

Wonder if I a 14B engine will bolt right in a BJ-40? They're pretty common here in Manila on Toyota Coaster buses, and still have 3661mL displacement, and the similar to Land Cruiser Prado and Hilux diff code of A03A. I think they're selling it here for US$3,000 or less.

14B match fine with H42 tranny, not sure about H55F.

Anything that bolts to an H42 bolts to an H55. They have the same bolt pattern.
