After trail riding yesterday, Mike was following me back to the lake, and we were almost there when I heard a clank like something fell off underneath and bounced up and hit the underside a few times. We stopped and Mike said it looked like a bushing had fallen off but this is what we found. It is a large bolt that that is 2" long and would take a 1.5" socket. It is threaded inside and smooth on the outside. We looked all underneath and could not find any place it could have fallen out. Granted, being paranoid driving home late, I felt the steering was wobbling more than usual, like it came from that area. There was a jeep I was following about 100 yards behind and Mike suggested maybe it fell off of it and I just ran over the bolt. :grinpimp: Anyone have any ideas?

That looks like a threaded tube insert that would get welded in the end of a suspension or steering tube with the threaded rod running through it for suspension or steering adjustability. If you lost it, you'd probably have a link hanging down somewhere.

Something like this:

That look like a body mount from the picture.

Ryan,
I went back out and looked but there is nothing obvious hanging down on any of the steering/suspension components. If you or anyone else could pinpoint exactly where this bolt goes, I will look again. I'm not sure this was a welded-in bolt; it appears the bolt was screwed into a threaded male rod but was never threaded all the way through for the nut to attach. Only threaded about one inch then nothing but dirt in the treads. Is this a Toyota part and wouldn't it be metric? I'm gonna go put a wrench on it to see, if I have one big enough. Thanks for your help!

If it's the end of a link, it'd be aftermarket since I've never seen an OEM-Toyota adjustable link.

As for a body mount: I've never seen a body mount with the hex head, but I'm not overly familiar with the older trucks either...

Doesn't look familiar, you probably just picked it up with your tire and after some speed it shot out and abounced around..

obvious: Its the cap to your muffler fluid reservoir.

I hope you are right Brian.

I already checked that along with the head light fluid reservoir! ;)

Thanks Eric, I will look close in that area. :)

Congrats on the engine rebuild. It reminded me of when we did Logan's engine. A great memory for me and I'm sure you, Garrett and Hannah. I can't wait to see all you guys in September.
