I recently sold my 06 LC with 220K miles on it. I loved this truck, it was in great shape. I really enjoyed having it over the last 10 years and put most of the miles on it. Someone approached me about buying it and I just so happened to have the new car fever. I ended up finding a '16 LC with only 16,000 miles on it!! It must have been a grocery getter or weekend vehicle. I have had the 16 for a few weeks now and I just keep wondering if I am going to grow to enjoy this truck as much as I did the 100. I enjoy the extra power and some of the creature comforts but it definitely feels completely different. Thoughts??

Yes, you will come to love it. I've had multiple 80s, 100, and two generations fo 200. Every generation gets better and better.

You're just having buyers remorse. Prescription: go for a good drive.

Yup, you screwed up.......you should have kept the 100 AND bought the 200! But seriously, even though it feels different, the 200 will grow on you and you'll love as much as the 100. Happened to me anyway!

I think this boils down to pure emotions. Yeah, it was just a car but you spent 10 years in it and almost made it to the moon with the mileage you put on it, this doesn’t even take into account all the memories you made in it... of course it feels weird.

I know exactly what you are going thru and felt very similar when I sold my 2003 w/200k miles on it for my first 200. It is different, the sounds and creaks, my hands knowing where everything is, not being able to open the rear side windows, the way I liked to move the shifter thru the gates to downshift, the whole thing was different.
The 200 series feels and is larger, but wow is it a complete package! I have had several and now have a 2015 and a 2016. After just taking a long trip in the 2016, I will be upgrading the 2015 soon and getting another 16+ model. I love my land cruisers and have never felt like I made a bad decision!

Congratulation on your new ride!

it is like that car you had back in high school. Oh the memories made in it. But now it is time to make new memories. They are just different.

I like the 100 series a lot but I love the 200's and I think you will too just like the others have said. We are looking to buy our second 200 series soon, definitely sad about them going away.

I’ve had several discussions about the “feel” of the 100 series vs. the 200. On paper, the 200 is seemingly better in every way, however, when you drive a 100 series you feel like you are the king of the road. I get this, my wife drives a 200 and I have the 100 - so I’ve analyzed this... driving position, on the 100 series it feels like you drive higher up on the vehicle, and there is less car separating you from the road. A car can feel this way and not be superior than the other. You can’t go wrong with getting any of these trucks; you will put a lot of miles on that 16’ and never look back.

I also had an 06 that I sold back in the summer. I initially thought the same thing - but after a couple of months, a few road trips, etc. - I believe I will love this one just as much, if not more. I also had my 06 for ~10 years. The 200 does feel a little more 'cushy' ... I had a few 'what the hell did I just do moments...'; but those quickly go away. I've recently added a lift (Dobinson) and it's got a much better stance. Added tires (275/70/18) and it's like my 100 is on steroids now. Never looking back.

That's a great lift. Could you share more detail on what you spec'ed w Dobinsons? (apologies for changing the subject)

My '06 LX is still in the family sold to my brother. Really enjoy that car and it fits like a glove when visiting. It hits all the subjective marks and drives relatively lighter on its feet. Objectively, the 200-series is more capable. While the '06 with the VVTI motor had good power, the 200-series is great. I upgraded largely because I needed more towing capacity. I enjoy both cruisers but if I had to have one, it would be the 200-series every time.

Both on 33s here

Feel the same way. Have an 07 V8 4Runner that I have owned since new and taken to nearly 40 states, including Alaska. I’m still more sentimentally attached to it than my 2014 LX and 2020 Cruiser.

I would regret, forever, selling the 4R which is why I keep 3 cars in a household that only daily drives 1 (my wife).

The 200 is a beast. I just sold my triple locked 100 because my 200 basically kicked it in the teeth on and off-road. The 200 wins every category except visibility over the hood IMO.

@ga12r1 It's nice to see a 200 used and abused like yours, awesome!!!

Just FYI when they have less than 36,000 on them you can buy the extended protection for about $1000 after your purchase.

I kept my 100 because I couldn't let it go. The 200 is more comfortable but the 100 is so military. I like having more leg room in the 200 but the 100 feels more nimble. I think what really got me was the power in the 5.7L. 200 is much more reliable than the 100 for me.

The purist is going to love the 100, the realist is going to love the 200.

I believe the Hundy is superior in every way. I will continue to feel this way while Hundy prices continue to climb. Once I sell my Hundy, I won't give a rat's a$$ anymore.

I prefer the Twundy, however.
