Hi guys, I've tried searching on this but haven't found anything conclusive. I'm looking to buy an '00 through '02 LX470 and trying to understand where they begin to come with the factory nav + integrated HVAC controls (don't want this) as I want to put in my own modern head unit and stereo.

Do you guys know if all '02s came with nav? It looks like many '01s did not, and most '00s didn't, but I have yet to find an '02 without nav and am wondering if I should just stop searching those. :)

Also open to other suggestions if there's another way to replace that factory head unit (haven't found anything here or on tlcfaq etc that suggests yes) but I'd love to be proven wrong. Also seems as though '03+ is a complete loss there.... Shame on Toyota for gimping these things with already-dated and irreplaceable factory nav. :(

Thanks!

Although the vast majority of 2001-2007 100-Series came with the navigation unit they could have been ordered without it. There have been a few non-nav '03+ come for sale but they are rare.

I understand, at least the earlier production years of the 200-Series could also be ordered sans navigation unit.

We Americans love our bells and whistles :D

CDan, Onur (beno) and myself researched what would be required to swap out a navigation unit and center dash assembly to non-nav. My hope was the wiring harness behind the dash would have been the same for nav/non-nav variants making the conversion mostly plug and play and somewhat affordable/cost justifiable.

However the wiring harness is different. And although, based upon our research, it is technically possible the parts alone would be over $2000 plus a fair amount of labor.

It would be popular, I think, if someone develops an affordable bridge controller or other electronic adapter to allow the A750F AT to be installed in '98-'02. So far to the best of my knowledge no one has cracked it...

HTH you.

Short and sweet

No 2000 100/LX in the US have a factory nav
2001 100/LX optional
2002 Lx standard, optional on land cruiser, most land cruisers have it though.
