Spotted this cruiser while looking through a Desert Magazine from 1966. Anyone heard from LandCruiserJunky lately?

LCJ's been around, mostly in the 45 section. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to move you over there, 'cuz theyre going to like that pic.

They're going to want a high-res scan though. :D Someone may want to track down Uncle Erle. :D

Thats an awesome picture! The trees in the background are Cirios, there is only 2 places in the world where they are found. One is on Baja and the other is south of Puerto Libertad in Sonora, these trees are proof that Baja and the mainland were once connected. I used to lease a ranch that had them on the mainland side. I will try and find and post some pics of the desert bighorns we took there.

That pic is awsome!! :) What month? I spy some up on the ebay

I'll have to look through them again to find the month, my kids were starting to get scissor happy and I didnt want them to find the magazines. I had a blast flipping through the pages discovering places I have been and places I would like to go.

Here is a shot of my truck (the green Land Rover) and Land Cruiser Junky's LV on a trip last winter.

Hey Moe, nice pic. I'll have to steal that one from you and post it for the boys.
Haven't been on the boards much lately. Been working on the house and taking care of Stace. She wants to hit the Saline at the beginning of November so I've gotta fix the wiring in the wagon within the next 2 weeks. Gonna call your dad about the sliders and working on the tailgate when we get back. Lets get together for some beers and cigars and plan the next trip out. I'll call you.

Love this pic.

Looks like the white / red color scheme. Beautiful.

Yep, found another issue with the same LV. There was a color photo of there campsite and all the vehicles. The LV was red and white and there was also Nissan Patrol.

The early 60's issues of Desert Magazine had full back cover advertisements for the Toyota Land Cruiser. There are at least 6-8 different full page advertisements and one issue had a 4 page review of the "new" 1962 Land Cruiser.

What months were the LV ones? I'll see if I can find them.

I am looking at April of 65 right now and it has a few LV pics and a nice back cover ad for LC's

The owner of the LV was Erle Stanley Gardner. He is featured prominently in several issues and it looks like he had quite a cool quiver of vehicles.

I've got a different add with Roy and the patrol. That guy was one cool dude!
And so is the Patrol (drove one all through High School).
