And now I know why the 80 series usually has a sun roof.

The deep water isn't so bad, but the smell is harder to dispense with. That and you get mucky water into every inside passage between the sheet metal layers, carpets etc. Just need to make a tube chassis so that isn't a problem...

Based on how deep Luis's 40 was that was some pretty deep chit.

That run proved to be a tech session for me...maybe I shouldn't have hi jacked it! LOL!
Wouldn't trade that ride for any other I been on out there even though:
Removed rear seats, scrubbed, then put them in the sun all day to dry...we'll see if they survive. Removed rear quarter panel interior covers...put in sun to dry. Removed rear quarter panel plugs and flushed out 10 pounds of something from each side with hose. Removed all rubber mats (don't have carpet) and hosed out interior floor. Removed hula skirts from both axles. Checked diff fluids...rear clear, front chocolate milk, transfer case clear. Off to auto parts for gear oil ++. Drained front diff good during auto parts run. Decided to change oil so bought oil. Refilled front diff. Changed engine oil. Bolted rear seat back in. Replaced rear quarter panel exterior plugs. Brushed ospho on some rust spots to delay progression.
Remaining for tomorrow: Scrub all interior mats, dry and replace, wash under vehicle in a few areas, reload all gear, wash exterior, and then I be back to where I was before the run!

I feel your pain Archie!

Washed the carpets 2x's getting all the swamp out - and all the dirt from who knows how long. Scrubbed them with a combination of tide, a bit of bleach and dish soap. They smell so nice now!

I also found that there were a couple of plugs missing - part of the reason I got so much water in so quickly on that last crossing. Well, if I hadn't taken the wrong line, THAT would have kept the water out as well! So I'm buying new plugs, and replacing a few others. Also discovered that a boot around the transmission hump that keeps the elements out was dry rotted as well, that's another part of my problem.

I'm also lining the interior with some rubberized undercoating. Looks promising, although coverage from the spray can is dismal at best. Hopefully it adds some rust prevention and a bit of sound deadening.

Heater item...

I'm looking for the cable pull heater hose shut off valve. Can be from a 40, 60 or 62. The one at the top of the picture with the "See Page 186" pointing at it.

Thanks,
Jerry D.

I think that's PNC 87240?

About $77 from one of the Yota sponsors on this board (CDan, Lowe). Am I looking at the right part? (I don't know anything about the 40's and 60's compared to the 80's!)

I got one out of an old Corolla at Pik-N-Pull. I saw one on a Cressida that would work too. The valve is basically the same even if the mounting bracket and pull lever is different. With some creativity it can be made to work.

Jerry looks like you just are in need of a heater control valve right ?

Go to Advance or Autozone and get one for an old chevy ( something in the early 70's ) . They may have to dig alittle but they should have something in stock that will work . If I get a chance I'll run up to Autozone today and dig in their control valves to get you a part number .

If all esle fails you still have a 60 and a 40 out back right .

WOW !!

A total of 4 now , we're on a roll .

For those of you who like to challenge your rig and yourself this is going to be a good weekend . Choccolocco ORV is having a Rocktober Roundup event this same weekend , should be alot of fun . The rest of you who are staying in Florida sucks to be you . But hey maybe you can get to that LED color light mod you have been putting off or maybe Armor All the interior and tires . Goodluck on them project's hope they help ya get down that Forrest Road .

Steve,Luis and new guy I'll shoot you a pm when I return from up north when I plan on leaving .

Right on the part number and price, and that money will go a long way to buy a bottle of Gentleman Jack.

I'll check the yards, only two up this way and about twenty miles down the road. So as the auto parts are close, I'll check them first.

Thanks,
Jerry D.

Update from Afghanistan

I have possibly seen more Land cruisers here in Kandahar than I did at GSMTR 2012. They even have the new $77,000 one here. Some of them I've never seen before but I will post pictures of these Land Cruisers and some of my new M.A.T.V. i got.

Just keep your head down and safe travels. Looking forward to some pics.

Make that three 70 series diesels... I'll settle for a mid wheel base if you can't find me troopy.

The Greek Island of Cyprus

I'm still new to the FLC Clubhouse but figured I'd share what I've been doing in Cyprus. The first picture is me jumping off a 40foot cliff into the ocean, and the second is me at about 25ft deep water in a free dive (snorkeling).

I've seen a good number of Cruisers here but since this was a British controlled island for a long time there are a lot more RR's.

Cool!

I understand Cyprus' economy is in ruins like greece.
Does the dollar go very far there now?
