ok whens the next trip ? i done awhole lot of prep for this last trip and by god i'm not going to let it go to waste !!!
It won't go to waste.
Next big trip is........ THE RUBICON!!

No, I'm not kidding :D

I'm hoping to drag the 40 as far as Colorado next year. But that is for another thread!

Looks like a great time, any carnage yet? How's the hydro assist helpingholding up on the 4runner?

Next time I think I'll just take my chances , so Jerry have them tools ready .

RUBICON HUH ? something to think about , when will this take place Steve ?

JOin

So what does one have to do to join the FLCA? I am in Jacksonville and on my second project. I just built and sold a 75 FJ40, and am in the middle of a tear down of an 82 BJ42.

Marlin Crawler

Just wondering if the Marlin Crawler transfercase is worth the money or what you would reccommend .

I'm looking to upgrade the t-case in the FJC . Want to get rid of the all wheel drive t-case that comes with the manual trans .

Post up let me know good and/or bad

Thanks

The easiest way is to come to a get-together. Makes it a one stop shop. The folks you want to get ahold of are currently at Chocco. Give them a week and touch bases with TrchieD or Jerry.

RUBICON HUH ? something to think about , when will this take place Steve ?

The TLCA Rubithon event is usually in July around July 4th.
I'll start a new thread when dates can be confirmed.

I'm not familiar with which case would go behind an FJC, but I will say Marlin Crawler is a standup company and will warranty their products. They have replaced two Toyboxes for me past warranty.

If you ever plan to run huge tires and beat on it, get an Atlas.

Yeah, that's the ticket, SAS that FJC !!

I'm not sure thats why I was asking . I seen the Marlin ad in the Trails Mag so I had them give me an price for one .
They have a gear to gear with a I think he said 4.7 final low gear . does that make sense . But to get it to me with all the goodies to install will cost 2500 . What to do ?

If thats the case I would agree with Flcruiser, for that much coin to get essentially a minitruck case seems steep. If you went the Atlas route it should be a bombproof trouble free drivetrain component. I am not convinced yet that the mini case can take heavy abuse in a full sized vehicle like a full body 40 or FJC, especially with more HP and bigger tires etc. People have had good luck running them (other than Flcruiser) and Marlin has kept up his end of the deal from what I know.

Has anyone mentioned how cool a place Choccolocco is?

It is probably one of the best places in the southeast US to wheel.
the place is plenty big too. Plenty of trails so you won't have to keep running the same ones.
Scenery is great too.
It also happens to be closest ORV park to us these days since River Rock is shut down.
It would be an awesome place for a GSMTR.
Well worth the drive!

There is also Morris Mountain in Delta Alabama, right below Oxford, that should be a little closer for you Florida guys... but you're right Choccolocco is definitely one of the best

Yea i got awhole lot of research to do before I make my mind up . The marlin is just a plug and play case , which is nice . I'm going to call Atlas next week to see what they have for the FJC .

Are you keeping the stock auto tranny? That may be the biggest factor, might have to go with the mini case.

could pull the drivetrain and swap the whole shebang?

We'll have to check out Morris mountain too!

Fattshack a group of Florida Toyota minis is headed to Morris Mountain for Thanksgiving. They've been both places and picked MM, so it must be a great place to wheel.

Rubicon - Summmer 2012

Anyone up for a trip to the Rubicon? The idea of a summer 2012 trip to the Rubicon has been brought up, discussed and is in the early planning stages. Mid June during the TLCA Rubithon seems the most likely time right now unless reasons come up not to attend then or has a better idea.

We could get a caravan headed out there, go through the southern US on the way out and take a more northern route to return.

Maybe some other Cruiserheads & Toyota people from the southeast and southern US would like to join us for the ride out.

Steve

Yea I plan on keeping the tranny in place . I don't want to change to much right now because when I do the SAS I don't want to change it again . Right now I'm riding the fence on what to do , I rarely drive it anymore on the street . So I'm thinking do the SAS first then pick a transfercase and what ever esle is needed. We have a 4wd shop here who I think has done a SAS on a 4runner but I'm going to see what they think .
Bret I sent you my contact numbers , is yours the same
