I am amazed and aghast. Deer valley was the first trail I ever did in my Pig and has always been my favorite. I think it's a sign that I need to leave stupid Kalifornia and go someplace where 4 wheeling is not a crime. oh, wait...

Mine too. Went w/ the nor cal guys. That trail prompted me to build my 62 and was an EYE OPENING experience what wheeling was.
Hopefully it will TRULY only be for this year.
Doesn't change the fact that it's bull s*** and these officials are just pulling this crap at their will without public voice.
They have a volunteer work force!!! I just don't understand why they wouldn't wanna utilize it at all.
I know I'd be there!! Im sure there are many of us that would.

there is a public hearing scheduled April 14th at the CA4WD office in Sacramento at 9am. be there to be heard. reps from the Forrest Circuis will be there. share this with all everyone.

There is going to be, or there has already been ruling by a judge that will force the Forest Service to close 40 of our trails in the El Dorado National Forest. This includes many trails like Barrett Lake, Strawberry, Deer Valley, etc. Basically everything except Rubicon. This is due to the lack of some study that was supposed to be completed by the Forest Service. These closures are supposed to be temporary but you know how these things work! The closures are to be in effect until the Forest Service completes the necessary studies. No word on how long it will take them to complete the necessary work. You can bet it will take some time!

What can we do? First thing- Friends of the Rubicon(FOTR) will be having their annual meeting on April 14th at 9:00 am at the CA4WD office in Sac. 8120 36th ave, 95824. There will be a representative from the Forest Service to answer questions about the closures. This is our first chance to learn and figure out where to go from here. We will be creating an event for Westside Wheelers so we can attend this meeting.

It means we need to find an alternate location for the 45-run this year. Deer valley was the third location for the event. I need to look at our options and see where else would work for us.

That's the spirit Georg!!! I've missed that run the last couple years and DON'T wanna miss it again.

Nearly all public lands are becoming more restricted or closed to any form of motorized recreation. Each season, we find more locked gates and trails blocked by boulders.

It makes no sense to close so much public lands, lands that have been used for more than 150 years, lands that have existing and used roads and trails...This is not how our lands should be managed!

We have many areas that should have no or limited motorized access, but not near as much as is being closed off in recent years.

This affects all users of public lands, 4X4, motorcycle, bicycle, fisherman, hunters, handicap, old and young, we are all being closed out in the name of environmental feel good crap!

JMFO,

Doug
Old enough to remember all the great places we youst to go!
