There's a thread on pirate talking about deer valley and strawberry creek being closed for this year?!?!?

Anyone know about this???
Is this true?

The thread was very speculative, so that's why I'm asking here.

Thanks bill,
I'll post a link when I get home to the thread on pirate.
This is a bit more than the seasonal closure. It has something to do w/ meadow and wetland studies, and the greenies getting all up in arms about.
Apparently, the final decision is this week.

Wish I could link it from my iPhone.

You read right. They are closed until april 2013. Along with pardoe trail. The only trail still open is fordyce and Rubicon

the verdict is in on that?!?
That FUGGIN sucks!!! Those are two of mu favorite trails!!!

Well, i guess I'm not taking my kids to Deer Valley this year. Damn!

So is Niagra Rim closed as well? SlickRock too?

Niagra Rim is on the Stanislaus NF not the Eldorado. I'm not sure about Slickrock.

Edit- the threads on pirate are talking about closures on the Eldorado NF so Niagra Rim should be ok.

I got in touch w/ del Albright of BRC on FB... He said a formal complaint has been filed re. This issue and will likely end up in court!!
Reason being that the whole thing was so quiet that the public had NO OPPORTUNITY to voice their opinions.
Getting spooky how this stuff is going down anymore!!

And Rubithon is only open to committee members this year. Bad year for me to have a new rig and my son heading off to college this fall. :crybaby:

Official, as of today.

Barrett Lake too...

"Some of these routes include: Barrett Lake Jeep Trail; Squaw Ridge Four Wheel Drive Trail; Clover Valley/ Deer Valley Trail; Strawberry Four Wheel Drive Trail; Carson Emigrant Trail"

Rubicon is going to be a zoo because of this and some environmentalists will take a bunch of pictures and use this year to determine the impact, just watch...

This is the same judge that said the pledge of Allegiance was unconstitutional, what a dick,

Hopefully an appeal will go through!!!
This whole thing seems rather shady and underhanded. If you read the thread on pirate all the way through though, it SOUNDED as if the FS dropped the ball on the "studies" they were supposed to conduct?!?

Id actually LIKE to get more involved in this type of business as I know hardly anything about it.

That being said....for this matter, there was NOT opportunity for ANYONE to get involved, really!
Sounds as if what they did might have been somewhat ILLEGAL to do without a public voice?

Sierra Pacific is responsible for a lot of that. They own much of the land out there. They've clamped down on a lot of access out that way in the last few years. It's not just the feds.

Just saying...

OK, so I'm a self-proclaimed hippy greeny panty wearing tofu eating left-leaning 4-wheeling aficionado and I think this is fxxxing stupid.

"All routes that cross meadows" are closed.

WTF?

Man,I am just reading this and thinking my kids are not going to be able to use these trails. This is bull**** and bad news.I would like a chance to write a letter or do something also.I know they have been on the closure list before but I am still not buying it.

I am amazed and aghast. Deer valley was the first trail I ever did in my Pig and has always been my favorite. I think it's a sign that I need to leave stupid Kalifornia and go someplace where 4 wheeling is not a crime. oh, wait...
