I've been pinging on Peterson Toyota/Lexus in Boise for the last 3 years or so for a better deal on parts prices to no avail.

Last week I finally got a bit of cooperation. Mentioned Mud and TLCA to the parts guy. Picked up a speedometer glass (the clear plastic thing on top of the gage cluster for ~$55 when full list was close to $80.

Contact is Tom Kopke, his email is tkopke@petersoncars.com. Good guy.

Hope this may be helpful to anybody in SW Idaho.

Tom Scott Toyota will give you a 10% TLCA discount, but it's a bit like pulling teeth.

you can also ALWAYS contact TRD Spark Toyota in Myrtle Beach...they have a huge online parts dept and ship world wide! Ask for Jamie if needed...

I wish the dealers would wake up and make our lives easier. The local Larry H Miller around here sells full list no matter what, even for parts off the shelf so I buy the occasional o-ring, washer, or gasket from them and all my other business goes to the wise and helpful out of state sellers. I just don't get it, I can drive over there and pay 20-40% more than what Lowe Toyota would charge and they give me free shipping. I would think some business would be better than no business. The other result is that I have 0 interest in buying a vehicle from the local dealers, building a relationship through fair parts practice could lead to vehicle sales and related service but I guess they don't need or want my business.

Check out Camelback Toyota in Phx, as well. They are local to me but they are a vendor here now and I believe they ship for free. I'm really lucky to have them near me, great service and pricing.

TRDParts4U.com is in Toyota of Dallas, always great prices and top notch service.

Why not support the dealers who support MUD? American Toyota in NM, and Lowes Toyota in GA. Both offer MUD discount and ship very fast, great service! They know LC's and find you the parts you need fast.

Sam Stewart of Lowe Toyota in Warner Robbins, GA also gives 25% (IIRC) to MUD members. I've ordered many times from Sam, as well as wheeled with him. He certainly knows cruisers. I like to cycle through our MUD connections depending on how fast I need the parts. Either I'll order from cdan or Beno if I'm not in a rush, or Sam if I'm in a pinch. All are great guys.

Anthony, the speedo glass, as it's called, does not have a Toyota equivalent, based on the pn's I found on toyota diy, cdan, and a few other websites. Believe me, if I could have sourced it from cdan I would have.

EVERYTHING else I get quotes on from supporting dealers, but either I need the part ASAP (o-ring and fipg for the leaking coolant intake casting), or shipping costs compared to 8% Idaho sales tax makes local purchase cheaper.

I tend to get tired of waiting for call backs, from vendors.

Have been Carson Toyota for parts for several years. The web site is top notch , as well as the service.

The web based sales allow you to order at midnight if you would like.

You can order by PN if you have them or look the parts up from vehicle schematics.

Received my first order from Sam at Lowe yesterday. He knows Cruisers and its great being able to ask a question or two without confusing him as has been the case with local part guys in Atlanta or Asheville.

I had a partial part number for the black beltline window trim and he found them in a nanosecond.

Next order will be either OEM CVs or a new steering rack. Yay.

Just to chime in.. The local stealer ships in Denver Metro area will blatantly charge over Toyota MSRP for parts and sound offended if you call them out on it. Lowe Toy (Sam) was a 5 minute phone call away and all my stuff arrived in 5 days at 25% off. And no shipping or sales tax.

Agreed^

All our toyota dealerships are owned by one company and they charge anywhere to 50-100% more than what MUD vendors sell the same parts for. Sam at Lowe gets me my parts fast and he is easy to get a hold of. Only once I had to wait for his call back but he was out for the day. Returned my call first thing the next morning and had my parts sent out that day.......free shipping too! Wish he sold Lexus parts too(LS400 parts).

+1 and I can pick up local as it's not far from my house. Funny thing is that the dealership that's even closer will NOT price match, and so I happily drive farther.

CDan is the greatest in terms of Cruiser knowledge though. I still order from him from time to time.

Lucky you're not in Australia, half the time it's cheaper to buy from the USA and pay unbelievable air freight costs, and it still arrives cheaper than what these guys sell at trade!

I use Sam also. Great knowledge and I don't even mind paying the sales tax.

Are you able to get discounted Lexus parts...i.e., Lexus-specific with no Toyota crossover??

Thanks

Steve

hankinid - I have used Peterson's on occasion as well and have worked with Tom on several occasions. In fact, I spoke with him earlier this week, as I needed to pick up a CV boot kit for the grease. I too have spoken to him about the MUD and have told him about the vendors on here that have been gracious enough to extend the discounts we are seeing. Tom was the one who sold me the 4 new Tundra wheels with new Michelin tires for $400, out the door. Great deal!

That said, I have also used Beno and Sam for maintenance purchases when I am not on a time crunch. I agree that at times the shipping can elevate the cost, but Peterson's has yet to meet the total cost savings I have had through these other two vendors. I am hopeful though, as I have purchased both my 100 LC and my wife's Lexus ES-350 from them and will give them more business, IF I feel like I am getting a fair price.
