Been a while since I’ve done a MUD trip report, but you guys are the best and I know a lot of you like the desert.

Heading out for two weeks in Death Valley doing desert rat shǐt. Bikepacking/hot springing/hiking/Toyota off road shît.

Just gonna post pics and share the adventure. Hope you knuckleheads are good. 💪💪⚙️⚙️

Getting bikes ready:

Mine: Squid “Fück Off Johnny” model with some additions.

Our trusty Toyota will be the T-100 for the trip. Simple truck, reliable, easy to work on and deal with. It’s a winner.

Current plan is to leave Tuesday morning and head northwest through the PHX valley and through the desert scrub lands of NW AZ. Cruise through Searchlight and Henderson and then bee-line NW to US 95 for the best desert driving around.

Stop in at Creech AFB and get gas and some tacos. Then head to Spicer Ranch, NE of Beatty. West of the Nevada Test Range. All sorts of #ETAF shīt going down there.

1-2 days based at Spicer Ranch then a overnight to the Rhyolite Ghost town. Worth the visit.

More soon amigos….

First overnight route will be Rhyolite…. A desolate ghost town in BFE…. The roads are rough and tough…. Washboards for miles…

Our next route will be in Saline Valley (NW of DV) and be a 4-day route that requires caching water. It’s desolate out there. This route will start at the Saline Valley Hot Springs and do a big loop catching Teakettle Junction, Eureka Dunes, Racetrack, Steele Pass, Dedeckera, Lippincott Grade, and Saline Valley Rd for some serious dogfighting action out of China Lake, Fallon, Edwards, and Lemoore. If you are into fighter planes, this is the place.

Don't die, I'm planning on visiting later this summer.

They are to bikes and hikers. Closed to motorized vehicles.
Perfect! I just got back from a Salt River rafting trip in NE AZ, and the weather was perfect and the flowers were starting to pop. Everything from cactus flowers to bighorns to cardinals to a momma hummingbird feeding babies.

8L of water test ride. 2L on each fork, 3L bladder in frame bag, and 1L on down tube. Adds about an extra 20lbs.

Quick 10 miler up the mountain and back. Success. Everything stayed on and attached.

Now to take everything off for the day trip up to Beatty, NV. About 10hrs depending on traffic in PHX and LAS.

Then a night and day at Spicer Ranch NE of Beatty getting bikes ready and tested before heading out on our first overnight.

Your timing was off by about a month...folks were kayaking in Lake Manly after the insane rains. Once in a lifetime s***.

Those trails look Toyota rated efff them 2 wheel pedaling things…
